Didn't see a topic for Invada which I think they deserve one. Not a soundtrack/film score label per se, they have released some wonderful titles over the past year. My introduction to them was through the Drive soundtrack, followed by Solaris (The Martinez score) and most recently the excellent Under the Skin which Had a special edition print in limited numbers.

Good label to watch!

Are they the guys that have released 5 different colourways of Drive? The limited editions that give on giving! Top Tip - For those who didn't get the 'exclusive' poster with 'Under The Skin' - you can always get it on ebay - it is the standard promo poster I believe.... :-)

They also released the UK Power Glove - Far Cry 3 LP.

Yeah thats them. The drive release was especially a nice presentation, I think they have about 5-6 soundtracks on the lable at the moment.

to @phillball1974 & @Pitch

hi there guys - couple of things...

in regard to us having an official thread - its not something we really want to get involved with it at present.
The reasons are that even though Invada releases soundtracks occasionally, we are primarily not a soundtrack label like our great friends here DW and OWS.
Invada is Geoff Barrow from the band Portishead - label. it was set up 10 years ago to release alternative and underground music that could escape the major label route. The label has in fact given rise to his 'other' band BEAK> who are kind of psychedelic Kraut rock.

We look on ourselves as more of a label like Mike Patton's 'IPECAC' record label rather than a label that will release a steady stream of soundtracks

Geoff Barrow himself is involved with Scores - and you may have picked up the DROKK project which was originally meant to be the score for DREDD. - in the end this was a co-release with the comic book company 2000AD

In regard to soundtracks like Drive / Solaris / Far Cry 3
These are all great scores we love and cherish personally - and we have approached the owners of the master rights to do vinyl editions. We have a couple more in the pipeline for later on this year - but to be totally honest we have more indie/alternative 'band' and Geoff Barrow related material forthcoming.

With a lot of the soundtrack labels there is a very dedicated fan base who buy everything (and are very knowledgable) - We dont really have a business model that attracts that kind of fan-base. one min we may release 300 copies of a 7"s of an unknown indie band from Bristol and still have 150 copies a year down the line - the next we have the Drive soundtrack with such a huge demand - that it catches us unaware.

In regard to the pressing of Drive - we started with a black standard / pink / picture disc. the picture disc sounded pretty bad , but looked great (as they tend to do) - we had a lot of problems with faulty stock on those, and in the end a lot of the copies sold had to be destroyed - replaced and exchanged for something different - thats why we pressed yellow and white. The black ones believe it or not took an eternity to sell as everyone wanted the pink - which to this day is the only copy we keep in press.

In regard to other soundtracks that often get mistaken for our releases - is our relationship / alliance with Milan Records out of Los Angeles. We use our website to sell copies of their releases that we rate / have worked on on their behalf (press wise) - very occasionally we will get an exclusive colour variant (valhalla rising ) - or in the case of 'Under The Skin' Studio Canal gave us a silk screen poster to sell accompany the 1st 100 units - as they knew we had helped promote the soundtrack.
When you see copies of these titles in stores they are nothing to do with Invada, purely stock that Milan has sold through Warner distribution.
We actually have one title forthcoming that will be a joint release between us and Milan that we will announce within the next month - but truthfully id like to say we were responsible for the likes of Stoker / Place Beyond The Pines / Only God Forgives / Valhalla rising etc - but we just have good connections with Milan and worked the press side of these titles.

I dont feel Invada follows any guide or is a particularly a dedicated OST label - for that reason i feel it doesnt really have too much of a place on this forum - but i like to come here once in a while and check out whats going on with the real collectors and labels that live this lifestyle 365 days a year.

Hope that makes sense

thanks!!

Well said !

Invada is a label you should support, soundtracks or not, Invada releases some of the best material around with great care for sound and packaging + some of the nicest guys in the biz.

Nothing but love for them.

Don't forget the Adrian Utley LP too, one of my favourites from last year.

Thanks for the info, I actually found Invada from an article with Geoff Barrow as I am a massive Portishead fan!

Invada may not be an exclusive/specialist soundtrack label, but you happen to have dropped SOLARIS last year - and that alone, my friends, puts you in the film score Hall of Fame round these parts :)

Looking forward to wherever you go next. More Martinez!

(hint hint....The Underneath, just out on Blu, has never had a vinyl release and it's a bloody gem - the precursor to Solaris in many ways.....hint hint ;)

I think I first noticed them when ordering Beak stuff.

I quite liked the Drokk thing.

Invada may not be a soundtrack label but they really do put out some good stuff

[/quote]Dude, you should look into getting VR from the WeMe label. It is spread out across two LPs and it just sounds better. If you're in the USA, you can order direct from LITA and if you're in the EU/UK, OWS will sort you out. That's the one to have.

Edit: I didn't see it one OWS, but here's the direct link to WeMe. And its cheaper!

I looked at both but like the fact the invada one has been done in conjunction with Nicolas Winding Refn and has in depth sleeve notes.

The download card I can take or leave.

Fair enough. I saw that, too, but, according to WeMe, they are using the masters and track order that WeMe produced and layed out so I'm not entirely sure what the director's involvement entails aside from approving the cover art. Well, and aside from being amazing. Which he is. I'm eager to hear your review when it arrives. Chin, chin!

I have both versions of Valhalla Rising and they are both good. As far as I can tell, the sound quality is the same on both releases.

The WeMe version has a nice look and feel and is of course two LPs. Unlike the Invada, it contains cues from sound designers Giles Lamb and Douglas MacDougall. The cues are great, but I do have a slight preference for the Invada version which only contains the Peter Peter/Peter Kyed score. It seems more coherent and "pure" when not inter cut with the cues, I think.

The liner notes on the Invada is nothing special. Nicolas Winding Refn practically repeats what he's said in several other interviews that can be found online. I love the cover art for the WeMe.

Amazing soundtrack that is much darker away from the visuals. Presentation is good, vinyl looks nice in red.

On a side note, the record sleeve arrive damaged with a nasty fold in the corner which wasnt apparant until opening the wrap. Contacted Invada and with no hassles at all have sent me a replacement, so hats of to those guys who appreciate good customer service.

Highly recommended.

For all of that, they announced the following on their Twitter last week:

"THREE (3) SOUNDTRACK announcements very soon."

Hopefully one of them will be the Nebraska score.

haven't played it and to be honest, I haven't even seen much hype anywhere about the game and suddenly in the news I hear they broke sales records. I must have fallen out of the gaming circle, I don't hear what's going on with the gaming industry much anymore.

It was actually mega hyped and delayed for a year. I played it with my girlfriend (we play quite a bit) and it was just woefully bad. I don't actually remember the soundtrack being anything special - I think I barely noticed it. It's interesting though that more videogame soundtracks are coming out on vinyl. That's cool. :)

yeah it's cool, now if maybe The Last of Us could get a soundtrack release on vinyl that'd be nice.
