Hey All...
I posted this link to our recent concert audio in a thread here earlier in the week (a thread on Howard Shore's Scanners coming out on vinyl - something I hope happens) and thought I'd post it here too for anyone that didn't see it...
The electronic offshoot band of my folk band Southern Tenant Folk Union (which itself has a new horror soundtrack inspired album 'The Chuck Norris Project' out next month on vinyl) recently did a 'Re-Score' of Scanners for a Halloween event...
The movie was picked not because the score needed replacing but because the way Howard Shore scored the film (in that almost every major dialogue scene doesn't have music over it) meant we could keep the vast majority of the actor's voices and after muting the scenes that did have music then play a live soundtrack over it and avoid having to use subtitles (we did put in some of our own foley like gunshots and footsteps)...
Anyway it worked out pretty well and we played our new score live along with the movie at Halloween and recorded the concert - you can hear the audio here on soundcloud...

Here too is a link to the first twenty minutes of the movie with our music and foley effects over the original images - I think Steve will do the full thing when he gets time...

And some more info on The Southern Tenant

Plus If you have any more spare time to click on links and listen to stuff here's the Chuck Norris Project album soundcloud link - this will be available on vinyl sometime next month...the band's first vinyl release...I've managed to incorporate the influence of some of my horror soundtrack heroes like Fabio Frizzi and John Carpenter into the acoustic folk music...and then written political lyrics to theme the whole thing...

Cheers,
Pat
