Hello,

In case anyone is interested, LARVA will be performing their expanded re-score to the classic science fiction short LA JETEE (1962) at Flatpack Festival in Birmingham UK, on April 22nd (followed by our first ever live set of semi-improvised music and visuals).

Ondes Positives have plans to record the score for a later release.

Cheers!

Thanking you fellas - as Kurt Vonnegut once quoted, from the Book of Bokonon:

We do, doodley do, doodley do, doodley do,
What we must, muddily must, muddily must, muddily must;
Muddily do, muddily do, muddily do, muddily do,
Until we bust, bodily bust, bodily bust, bodily bust.

La Jetee is an existential film.

Positives People...

We're pleased to announce the first full performance of LARVA's latest project, an alternate soundtrack to Chris Marker's experimental science fiction short
LA JETEE (FRA, 1962).
Comprised almost entirely of luminously grainy black and white photographs, Chris Marker’s existential time travel short is hugely influential, and formed the basis for Terry Gilliam's cult classic 12 Monkeys (USA, 1995). LARVA have re-scored the film for analog electronics, tuned percussion, multiple guitars and a new instrument – the Glass Chroma Harp, a variation on the 18th Century Glass Armonica. An instrument which was popular in it’s time with many composers, the Glass Armonica fell into disrepute as it gained a reputation for causing madness in both player and listener.

LARVA are a five-piece for this project, comprising Nick Sales, Scott Johannsson, Sam Owen & Laurence Hunt (Pram) and James Smith (Ray Vorg, The Nightingales).
LARVA will follow La Jetee with their first ever live set of improvised music and visuals.

Ondes Positives plan to record this performance for future release, and we'll also have an announcement very soon about our next release - another LARVA-related project which is going to be available in a variety of highly limited, bespoke artist-editions.

Tickets are now available for the show, including in a bundle with the latest performance by A/V wizards Giant Axe Field.
