Dollarhyde wrote: Mon Jun 07, 2021 4:07 pm Nice inks! I need to prioritize night flight on my shoji want list.

I didn't.realise it's a "space sizer" release, is this the same thing as that Japanese phantasm?
Honestly I have no idea, I ran the section through google translate app and it roughly translated to a special 360 degree sound field if you are sitting at the proper angles in front of the speakers. It's licensed and created by some one else. I've never heard of it before but it sounds really cool.

I definitely think you should move this one up the list priority wise, it's really damn good. And luckily it's not as expensive as Jataka these days. Most Japanese sellers are sitting around $20-$30 for a copy so if you can roll it into a bigger purchase it ends up being pretty reasonable.
Late reply,

@inksb It's not Phantasm I was thinking of but the Japanese Halloween press is also a space-sizer 360 record.

I think Osamu Shoji also has some credit on this record maybe it was his thing.

EDIT**

Ok, looking at the extensive comments section on discogs and trying to recall Scott and Tony's discussion this link to osamu shoji may clear things up,or make them more confusing 😅
Yeah... one of those DC comments will be yours truly attempting to school some know-it-all blowhard about the Japanese Halloween release. To what end... I can't possibly fathom haha.

Bo diddley is a gunfighter. And also a lover. This is a terrific album! The track Congo starts off with him dragging the pick down the string, a sound jimi Hendrix must have heard

Found today for cheap. It has the Masquerade is Over the 10 minute soul funk anthem sampled in Duel of the Iron Mic by Gza

It looks clean enough but plays with a lot of pops. Still for five bucks not bad at all.

V/A - ISM Hexadome at MASS MoCA 4-LPs

ISM stands for "Institute for Sound & Music," which is in Germany. This is a collection of pieces specializing in binaural sound and includes musicians such as Ben Frost and Suzanne Ciani. I'm a little bummed about the bottom-right corner, but it's not bad enough to ask for a replacement from overseas. Just bad enough for grumbling.

Medicine Compilation from the Quiet Lodge - Haruomi Hosono

I didn't think I was going to pick this one up, most prices in the US were around $65-$70 which is just too much for it imo. It's a really great album but not one I was in a rush to grab at that price. Well LITA had a sale on a few recent Hosomo reissues and I managed to get this for $48 which I figured would be the lowest it will be. It's really awesome that it finally was issued to vinyl and I'm happy Japan seems to be reissuing all of his catalog but they are skipping over some really fantastic albums that I hope eventually get reissued. There are five records they put out for RSD this weekend but I'm not sure where I can get them in the US, I want four of them, Paradise View, SFX, The Endless Talking and Mercuric Dance.

Orchestra of the Eighth Day - Waiting for Haley's Comet
https://www.discogs.com/Jan-AP-Kaczmare ... se/2231065

Interesting early 80s ambient experiential group out of Poland, if you like TD you might dig this. Kaczmarek from the group went on to scoring music for film.

Thanks for posting this! Never heard of it, but I really enjoy the samples. I'll have to pick it up.

@redeye glad you like it, can be got for a nice price too, their other works are worth checking. I also picked up their LP 'at the last gate' not arrived yet though, and not so cheap.

Yeah, I started going through videos in their discography on Discogs and added "Music for the End" and "At the Last Gate" to my want list. I was excited to see the soundtrack and "Music for the End" being reasonable, then saw "At the Last Gate" ...
