Nice one static, the one steps sound great. Or at least the marvin gaye does since that's the only one I splurged for so far.

My boss likes to schedule check-in meetings for 9am Mondays, so I had Emancipator on as background tonight while I prepared for the meeting.

Mansur - Karma LP

Mansur is Jason Kohnen from Bong-Ra, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, and a slew of others. Mansur uses more non-traditional instruments with female vocals. Dead (Can Dance) heads may want to check this out.

Red, this looks dope. Genre?
It's a mix of droning Americana, New Age, and Middle-Eastern instrumentation. One side has poetry in English and the other in Arabic. The English side (I assume the Arabic side as well) narrates a relationship between a girl and her forest environment.

As with previous Field Works releases, the main dude collaborates with many musicians. He does a lot of field recordings in particular places and times and works with musicians to weave the snippets into a story, usually slightly melancholy.

Some recent hip-hop spins as late

Madlib - Madlib Medicine Show No. 3: Beat Konducta in Africa

this is probably my favorite release from the MMS series. I was lucky enough to grab one of the limited edition screen printed covers when it was originally released.

Your Old Droog - Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition

a newer artist I've been warming up to. This one is probably my favorite release from him, the production is great and has a nice set of features as well.

Che Noir - Juno

easily one of the best female rappers out there right now. This is the album that sold me on her. She has an incredible way of telling vivid stories. This one is fully produced by 38 Spesh. She released 3 albums in 2020 and every one of them is great. If you are into hip-hop please give her a chance, she is often over looked due to be a female

Flee Lord & DJ Shay - Lucky 13

One DJ Shay's last albums before passing last year, it's a shame he's gone so early but he left behind a good body of work and is responsible for for a lot artists out of Buffalo NY getting their starts. Flee Lord is great here, one of his better albums of 2020. He was ridiculous and released an album a month. Out of 12 months he ended up with 6 or 7 really solid albums and 2 of his career best. That's an impressive feat. This one definitely falls in the solid section and one I'll spin quite often.

Crimeapple - Mátalos Con Más Éxitos

Crimeapple is an artist I dont' love but tend to like most of his output. I dont' go out of my way to pick up any of his stuff but this one was pretty cheap and I took a chance on it with out hearing it before hand. It's good, nothing spectacular.

Dj shay. Will have to look it up.

The repress of madvillain came today. I had a gunmetal grey copy from maybe 2012-2013 that sounded like absolute trash with unbearable surface noise that overpowered the music, but I never got around to getting a better one until now.

DJ Shay is responsible for the Griselda crew mostly but he's been around in the Buffalo underground for well over a decade.

You order that Madvillain from Stones Throw? I have been meaning to grab a copy
