I'm heading to NYC for a weekend in two weeks time. Yes, I can google "best record stores NYC" but I want to hear from people personally. So, where am I likely to find some great rare/old soundtracks in NYC?

i was just up that way kind of recently, but i was in the financial district so there was really only a small jazz place. The owner told me there were a lot of spots to hit it Brooklyn

what deaf said.

Unfortunately, I really think that NYC is lacking when it comes to good stores, especially for the stuff we collect. there are some spots in the thread above worth checking out, but unless you have the time for Brooklyn, Manhattan can be kind of a bust.

Brooklyn:
Captured Tracks
Academy Records Annex
Norman's Sound and Vision
Superior Elevation Records (last week got Thief and Ortolani's Madron for a quarter each still in shrink wrap!
Co op 87
Rough Trade
Human Head Records
Earwax Records

When I have time and it's a nice day I walk the whole route and check in on each of these store. In walking distance on a nice day.
