Don't know if this is anyone else's wheelhouse but VMP is reissuing Medeski, Martin & Wood's The Dropper and Uninvisible. Prices are absurd, $55 for non-members and $50 for members. I would love both of those records but not at that price.

Love MMW. Def in my wheelhouse, but sadly not at that price point. I saw them live in 1999 in a small club in Winston called Ziggy's. Took my little brother, who was maybe 14 at the time. So many feels.

I saw them a lot through the early 00's, mostly at very small theaters and venues. So much fun. I've seen John play a lot at various shows and festivals over the years after MMW kind of took the back burner for them. One of the best shows was seeing him with The Word which for those that don't know is John Medeski, Robert Randolph and the old line up of North Mississippi Allstars, Luther & Cody Dickenson and Chris Chew. Easily one of the best live show's I've ever been to.

The record with John Scofield is a favorite of mine as well. A Go Go

Bad Brains " Quickness" (Punk Note Edition)

This limited “Punk Note” edition comes with alternate packaging artwork from designer John Yates (Stealworks), on a special color pressing. The artwork is a nod to Reid Miles and Francis Wolff, and their amazing work at the Blue Note label. The pressing is limited to 1,000 copies.

I was late to the game on the first 2 reissues so pretty happy to get this one at least. Standard reissues are also available. Brooklyn Vegan has an exclusive variant.

Yup it's pretty killer. I was sold immediately when I found out about it. And based on everyone's love for jazz here, I figured I'd give the heads up. Here are the first 2

I haven't listened to Bad Brains in ages. Now I currently have them on. Those are great too.

was so bummed that I slept on the s/t Punk Note edition, thinking it would be available in stores which never happened.
I'll eventually pay dumb money when i have the other two in hand.

I was able to preorder the rock for light punk note and just grabbed the Quickness with a quickness.

Yeah, I'm hoping for leftovers to pop up at some point 🤞

Just got an email from Soundohm about this reissue. First time reissued, limited to 400 copies. I'm listening now and seems pretty good. Hoping Stranded or Dusty Groove gets US copies

Haruomi hosono's watering a flower has finally gotten a vinyl release!

well.. partially, only side A of the original tape has gotten a vinyl release, with side b of the vinyl dedicated to 2 vampire weekend songs that sampled the original 😥.

I don't know if watering a flower in its entirety is planned for release. If this is all we are getting I may have to jump on it.

Weird. I may have to pick up a copy as well. I have zero interest in the Vampire Weekend stuff.

@inks Same here, I checked some of their track on YouTube and it feels they were cashing in on the OG's YouTube phenomenon, although I guess Hosono must have granted the sample permission.

Two new Midori Takada albums up for pre-order over at WRWTFWW. I'm listening to side A from Cutting Branches and it's pretty damn good. I'll wait til they land in the US stores before I grab it but if you're a fan of Through The Looking Glass give this one a listen

Not sure how I missed this announcement but Prince's The Gold Experience got reissued this weekend.

https://store.prince.com/product/5QLPPR ... ucent-gold

I was able to get a copy from a shop out of TN for cheap so I'm pretty happy about that as it was the only record that sold out at my local shop.

edit: changed the link to the official Prince store as they are now selling copies direct

I got the first two entries in Blues Funeral Recordings "PostWax Vol. II" series. The label specializes in stoner/doom rock. The reason why I'm posting is that I figured you might be interested in the packaging. It's a bit nuts.

It comes with plastic pieces to make a diorama out of the outer sleeve, some inserts, and cardboard game pieces for ... something.

Here's a video of how to assemble the damn thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcnghJtZY4Y

I like the art in theory. I doubt I'll ever take the time to assemble the diorama.

Well that's really cool. I think I would assemble it once to see what it looks like then pack it back up because I have no where to display it lol

Kevin Gray/ Cohearant / RTI repress of Johnny Hammond Gears in a tip-on jacket for $30, run of 2000
I am buying very little but snagged one and will sell whichever one sounds worse the new one or the undated 80s/90s UK reissue I found last year.

*Update- On that Gears, I'd take the earlier press over the Craft. This one. https://www.discogs.com/release/5731667 ... mond-Gears

Let me know what you find. I have the BGP 2015 repress on clear.
