'Tis the season for a new Slasher Dave album.

SLASHER DAVE - FRIGHTS LP

Slasher Dave, the formidable frontman of Detroit’s Acid Witch, and 20 Buck Spin have united forces to bring a special treat for this year’s Halloween loot bag. On ‘Frights’ his fifth solo record, Dave introduces a heavier side to the instrumental synth album world that is sure to send chills down the spine and drain the blood from the body.

Twelve nightmares of deranged horror synth and terrifying industrial rhythms pulse through a stark electronic soundscape of analog synthesizers, pounding bass, distorted guitars and warped lo-fi horror samples. The dusty VHS tape vibe of this bizarre soundtrack encapsulates the dread and excitement of the best late night double features.

Timed for release as All Hallow’s Eve approaches Slasher Dave’s ‘Frights’ is a darkly entertaining trick or treat for this years pumpkin smashing festivities, full of eerie cues, neon shadows and bloodstained staircases.

Everything little JJ puts out is liquid gold. And reasonably marked up to boot. They really DO do it better!

^I know a lot of people prefer Pop, but this was always my favorite Gas album. Probably because it was the first one I ever heard back in '97.

OGRE - Murals

on 10" coming from Electronic Purification Records 12/14

I would love to grab this but last record I checked to buy from them they wanted €20 on a record priced at €25. Not sure why they feel the need to charge so much when every one else is €10-€15 for shipping.

If you go to their site you can see a pic of the release, I can't post the image though due to it's size.

I'm going to the GAS concert in a month! EXCITED to see what his live stuff is. I heard he has like strings and classical with the live performance. But really I love love GAS and his POP album the most. These couple years delved very deep into POP and Königsforst and only now beginning to listen to Zauberberg. One of my favorite artists now. He has just something so touching in his music, I feel I can understand him and think the same way as he does in some regards.

SP, very interesting about the live concert -- please report back after the event. I have been a fan of Wolfgang Voigt's material going on twenty-five years now. It actually took me almost a decade in the early years of techno to match up all of his aliases and record labels in the days before discogs.... Mike Ink, Love Inc., etc. All that said, I have never been able to catch a live performance of his under any pseudonym, though I am not sure how many times he even performed here in the US.

Will do!

Also what is that reissue? Are they going to reissue the others too?

EDIT: They will re-issue all GAS Lp's induvidually, that were in the GAS box, early 2019 (currently scheduled for February/March). Catalog numbers are Kompakt 370.1 - 4.

Amazing news!!!!

I could of sworn I read somewhere it was a deluxe remaster 2lp at 33rpm, but I can't find the info now. Anyways, buy it regardless whatever version, its pure brilliance.

Vape, I love Kakashi as well but I think my favorite Shimizu is IQ 179. Not that you can go wrong either way. And agreed on Mariah. The earlier Palto Flats/WRWTFWW reish was dynamite.

Morning! I have the Crow/Hako 7" which is taken from the album I think, might be wrong, I haven't played it in ages come to think of it. I picked up the reissue of Dementos the other week and haven't stopped playing it since, so much fun with some great melodies. If you don't have a copy track one down as I haven't seen it for sale in the usual online stores, I had to hunt for it. Not sure if it was limited.

Both sides of that 7" are definitely pulled from that LP. The cheapest I saw it new was around $40USD which is absurd. Still, one of the great albums of the 80s.

My favorite band, ULVER, are releasing a new album tomorrow. it's titled ''Drone Activity'', it's a Double LP of music they recorded during a live performance. Here's the blurb from the mailing list of the label, House of Mythology :
HOM 018 – Ulver – Drone Activity (DLP, CD, possibly DL)

As commissioned last year by Red Bull Music: a retreat into the sunken paradise. Half-buried misty temples, giant creatures and vaguely prehistoric figures emerge as depth and time intertwine, from the ancient Atlantis to the Northernmost seas.

A special one-off performance multi-tracked and mixed/mastered by the band and its associates.
Weirdly, it's not been announced anywhere else (yet) than in the mailing list. When they announced the October 2018 red bull festival show, they also announced two Drone show dates in New York, in March, and I'm going to the March 22nd event. So excited !
