Perhaps like myself you tour quite a bit, or perhaps you're town or city has an ace record shop that people who might visit said city don't know about.

Berlin, Germany: Solmstr corner of Gneisenauerstr
is a weird 2nd hand place that has a very amazing OST section that I'm not sure anyone knows about.

Verona, Italy: http://www.ledisquestore.com/
very cool little shop with an immense basement. most of the records aren't even on the shop floor. Almost 100% electronic music.

Madrid, Spain: Recycled, Calle de la Palma, 34 Madrid, 28004
Small but vast. Mostly Techno however, one of the few shops left.

As I travel and visit I'll update this

In Chicago -

Permanent Records: 1914 W Chicago Ave Chicago, IL 60622

Small, but amazing selection of psych, garage and usually a nice selection of soundtracks. The new release bin is the way to go -- always packed with good stuff. They also have an LA store that my brother in law loves. Great people who I am always happy to give money to.

Reckless Records -- various locations.

Probably Chicago's most well known of record stores

In Minneapolis -- Its always worth going to Tree House Records -- 2557 Lyndale Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55405 This place is the epitome of old school, local record store. I love it.

Then there is Cheapo -- 1300 W Lake St MN -- This place is god awful huge, but if you can dig, you can find it. I think their soundtrack collection is the biggest I have seen in the midwest. Lots of copies of Yentil though. Its fun to have beers before going here.

If your in Manchester UK, then there is :

Piccadilly records, Oldham Street, Manchester
Great for re-issues & new releases, prog, psyche, electronic, Kraut, New Wave, Hip Hop pretty much anything really

Vinyl Exchange, Oldham Street, Manchester
mostly 2nd hand, lots of good disco, soul, breaks, hip hop, techno

Beatin Rhythm Tib Street, Manchester
Pretty much all 45's, soul, Northern soul, disco, boogie

Eastern Bloc - Stevensons Square, Manchester
Lots of upfront Dance music, techno, dubstep, bass music

Vinyl revival - Hilton Street, Manchester
2nd hand, good selection of Rock & Roll, Manchester music, soul, funk

King Bee records, Wilbraham rd, Chorlton, Manchester
2nd hand, good reggae, soul, disco, rock

All of the aforementioned shops apart from King Bee are within 2 mins walk from each other, so Manchester is a great place to spend a day digging, prices are fair, however these shops tend to know their shit so its rare you find an amazing deal on that golden nugget of a record.

There are loads of small little squirrel spots as well, but I'm not going to tell you about those, you have to keep a few things for yourself :)

In Glasgow I'd heartily recommend the exceptional Monorail Music on King Street - my wallet tightens in fear every time I near the place.

Also great is the ever excellent 2nd hand shop Mixed Up Records on Otago Lane in the west end. Great guys, lovely chilled out vibe and plenty of stock to trawl through.

If you are in Lisbon you must visit

Flur and Carbono. They both have websites so it should be easy to get to them.

The best shops I visited during my last holidays :

COPENHAGUE (Denmark)

Beat-Bop (Peder Hvitfeldts Stioede 14)
- 2nd hand, very nice guy
- jazz, soul, pop-rock, classical, psyche, prog, hard rock, punk, soundtracks...

Accord (City Shop : Vestergade 37 / Nørrebro Shop : Nørrebrogade 90)
- 2nd hand and liquidation
- Mostly pop-rock, jazz, danish music, soul, classical and OST but there's a lot more than that

Repo Man Records (Fensmarkgade 36)
- new and 2nd hand
- Punk, hardcore, stoner, doom, metal and a bit of 70's rock/psyche/garage 70's/psyche/garage. Also a nice choice in Japanese punk/hardcore.
- only shop specialized in aggressive musics in the whole town

Second Beat (Jagtvej 129)
- 2nd hand (books and records)
- classical, soul, electro, world music, pop-rock....
- a lot of boxes on the ground with hundred of less-than-1-euro records

MALMÖ (Sweden)

Seriemagasinet (Larochegatan 5)
- 2nd hand (records, comic-books and DVD), nice and cheap
- Rock, soul, soundtracks, prog, psyché, punk, hard-rock...

Rundgång (Kristianstadsgatan 14)
- New (a bit too expensive) and 2nd hand (huge choice and good prices)
- electro, punk, hardcore, new-wave, rap, metal, soul, soundtracks....

AMSTERDAM (Netherlands)

Sugar & Spice (Gasthuismolenstag 8a)
- New only (records, books, DVDs, film posters...)
- World music (Vampisoul or Soundway releases, amongst others), punk, garage, experimental..

Waxwell Records (Gasthuismolenstag 8a)
- 2nd hand
- hip-hop, soul, jazz, soundtracks, punk, new wave, pop-rock...

Distortion Records (Westerstraat 244)
- 2nd hand
- a lot of electro, punk, hardcore, soul, rock, reggae, pop
- a huge and great mess with pile of records everywhere. A degree in archeology is required

>Concerto (Utrechtsestraat 52-60)
- New and 2nd hand
- Every genre possible, the shop is on all the street and is divided in 4 huge rooms (each with a basement). I found some soundtracks I rarely saw in shops before like Soldaat von Oranje or The Plague Dogs.

Amstel Antiques Records (Amstel 110)
- 2nd hand
- Soul, jazz, classical, metal, punk, new wave, soundtracks, prog, psyche...

Record Friend (Sint Antoniesbreestraat 64)
- New and 2nd hand
- Pop, rock, soul, electro, punk, new wave, minimal, classical, soundtracks, metal...
- bad name for a shop with so expensive prices. But it's counterbalanced by the huge choice of records

I'll be able to do Paris too but I can say it's a friendly city for records lovers. Not too much good deals since I live here.

Distortion in Amsterdam is a great shop but you need a lot of time. Its easier to download his stock list from his site before you go in as he has a lot of stuff out back.
