This is a little too steep for my blood but some of you may be interested if didn't already know about this.

THE MILES DAVIS QUINTET - RELAXIN’ WITH THE MILES DAVIS QUINTET (SMALL BATCH, ONE-STEP PRESSING)
$109.99

https://craftrecordings.com/products/th ... gn=4_16_22
[PRE-ORDER] Product expected to ship by May 6th, 2022.

The Miles Davis Quintet’s seminal classic, Relaxin’ with the Miles Davis Quintet, is the third release in our Small Batch series — a carefully curated one-step process vinyl collection that is devoted to creating the highest quality reissues of legendary recordings from our vast catalog.

As with all Small Batch albums, Relaxin’ with the Miles Davis Quintet was mastered from its original analog tapes by Bernie Grundman and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI using Neotech’s VR900 compound and a one-step lacquer process—as opposed to the standard three-step process—allowing for the utmost level of musical detail, clarity, and dynamics while reducing the amount of surface noise on the record. The limited nature of these pressings guarantees that each record is a true representation of the original lacquer and is as close as the listener can get to the original recording.

Each pressing of Relaxin’ is individually numbered and encased in a foil-stamped, linen-wrapped slipcase featuring an acrylic inset of the original artwork. The vinyl disc—extractable through a unique, frictionless ribbon pull tab—is housed in a reproduction of the album’s original tip-on jacket from Prestige Records and protected by an archival-quality, anti-static, non-scratching inner sleeve. New liner notes from the GRAMMY® Award-winning music historian, journalist, and producer, Ashley Kahn complete the package.

Please note, due to the limited nature of this pressing there is a strictly enforced, per-household limit of one copy. Product is excluded from discount code offers.

I got one. I might regret it. I don't know why I did that. I already have a W 50th original and a numbered analogue productions from ten years ago or whenever they did those. I guess I can do a shot out and see which one sounds the best. I just love the album it's an all timer.

I've tracked down a fair number of sonny Rollins records but never this one. I'm really liking it. Jim Hall on the guitar was an awesome addition, and Bob cranshaw especially plays well. Worth looking for this one, I haven't heard every sonny record but this has to be in his top three.

Snuck over to the Austin record show but only had about an hour to spend. Probably for the best...there was a lot more good stuff there than I was ready to buy!

I couldn't pass up this scruffy copy of Jackie's Pal. It plays pretty well considering, and this one is a tough pull in any condition.

Also snagged vol 1 since I have vol 2 already and enjoy it. Some of these liberty presses are good, this one has 9M and RVG etch so it is the same metalwork as the 50s. There were a bunch of these UA and Liberty presses of good 50s records. I hated leaving them, they were all super clean too. Guy from Rochester NY came down with a killer table of jazz. Nice guy. Place maybe called Bop Shop?

I need some help with this one. It seems to be any earlier mono pressing it has the inner sleeve celebrating 27 years of blue note 1939-1966. I believe the album was released 2 prior. This copy side 2 is pressed on both sides even though the side 1 label is present. I can’t find anything about this pressing. Can anybody shine a light on this situation for me?

If side 2 music is on both sides then it sounds like a mispress.

Yeah it’s for sure a mispress. I was just curious if this is a commonly known mispress as this surely can’t be the only copy affected. I couldn’t find any info on discogs. Is there another website dedicated to blue note and there pressings?

Picked this up yesterday, very happy to finally have a copy. Pressing sounds great, obviously I don't have an OG to compare to but it seems well balanced, clean with no noise.

Nice one @Inksb! I still need to add Two Headed Freap to the collection, glad to hear the BN Classic release seems to be solid.

Wonderful music. Great sounding records. And a (somewhat) reasonably priced audiophile reissue by Craft.

Said before. Shown before. But I can just echo that this just sounds amazing.

When did these tone poets start costing $40? Just saw a couple of the new ones at the record shop and I wanted three of them. The Coltrane with the stereo cut, the grant green and the Kenny Burrell. Getting all three would have set me back about $150 with tax, so I had to skip them. Ouch!

For real??? I haven't picked one up since this summer and I think I paid $30-32 for it. That's a bummer.

Can't remember who recommended this but I pre-ordered it almost immediately after seeing praise for it. Well it finally arrived and it's quite good. The opening of each side is misleading with how quiet it is so I keep turning it up way louder than I should.

Must have missed out on the previous rec but will check out that album, looks/sounds interesting and it‘s on streaming so an easy way to get a solid first impression.

Thanks @Inksb. That‘s a good read and I really enjoy the album, just listened to it on headphones while getting some work done on the PC.

This beauty arrived over the weekend. Beautiful pressing, annoying gatefold that wants to open constantly. Even the Mrs enjoyed listening to it
