Seems a few others have said it's a noisy pressing as well but not everyone. It didn't seem noisy all the way through, mostly the first 2-3 minutes.
Ah, ok, that‘s a pity. I have that one and most other Jazz records from WRWTFWW and no issues. Great album in any case.
Yeah I have a handful of WRWTFWW albums and have zero issues with any of their pressings. I'm hoping my copy is just some stuff in the grooves that will disappear after a proper cleaning.

Sonny Clark, another great artist that died too young. I think this album is on par with his more renown Cool Struttin’ or maybe even better - soulful and truly swinging with every musician in top form.

I really like My Conception, I'll add this one to the list. Hopefully it's not too hard to find a reasonably priced copy

Leapin and Lopin is really excellent. needs a 33rpm nice audiophile version.

Ah yes, My Conception is great - I still need to get the recent Tone Poet release of that album.

still neglecting this thread with every jazz spin i make. hopefully i can contribute a little more in 2022 :)
great under the radar Ex-Yugoslavian album. Tone Jansa is treating the sax really well, sounding like Pharoah Sanders in parts...

so many new underground jazz artists releasing their stuff on vinyl nowadays! i gave up trying to keep pace with the numerous releases surfacing every week. but i am very happy that i did not sleep on this beauty from poland. it caught my attention because this album is covering two calssic Krzysztof Komeda compositions from Knife In The Water and they are so nice! even @ScoJo would celebrate them. rest of the album is really good as well and the audio quality is overwhelming audiophile level...
Added this to the morning playlist. That cover is great.
I picked this up yesterday and while I only made it through the first LP it's fantastic. A little pricier than the normal Blue Note Classic/Tone Poet pricing but it's worth it on this release

I saw a copy of Roy Brooks The Free Slave today, it was $300 so I just kept moving along but it was pretty awesome to see one in person. The shop I stopped into had a ton of really nice jazz stuff, a lot of early blue note stuff on their wall at prices well above what I was interested in.

Local shop got a grip of good jazz, and I snagged way too much. I am really liking Jazz Contrasts. The A side tracks are uptempo and energetic with some really aggressive drumming by Max Roach, at one point he's flirting with break beats. And the B side is slow ballads with a harp in the instrumentation.
I'm digging the stereo press. Nice bleed across the channels, it sounds full and good.

"Sugan" by Phil Woods & Red Garland
This 1964 set was far below my radar. It has a classic straight ahead hard bop sound. They play half Parker tunes, the rest being Woods originals. No weak numbers. Definitely worth checking out, Rudy Van Gelder session and mastering. Ray Copeland on trumpet and Phil Woods alto are both awesome on here. Best of all the shop knocked half off because it was really dirty and missing the inner sleeve, but it cleaned up to EX.
Check out the title track, this whole record blew me away so much better than I expected

I love seeing sellers on Discogs just try and liquidate stock they have been sitting on at crazy prices after a reissue is announced. There's a seller that has had a Ronnie Foster Two Headed Freap at $175 since last summer. As soon as the reissue was announced he dropped it to $99. Cracks me up.
