Some of those prestige records are crazy detailed. I have a red Garland one where you can clearly make out ambient background like glasses clinking, soft conversations and the little effort noises the musicians make. It's like you're sitting right there in the room.

Speaking of which.. I bought this record for five bucks...Remember when you could do that? Now some shop would want $75, fuck

if i may recommend another new jazz release it would be this one (or now, these two...): Afro Blue Persuation. released by my buddy just arround the corner where i live right now. absoultely neat unreleased session recorded in 1967 in California. straight forward afro cuban influenced jazz stuff that has been dominating the turntable for the past weeks. when i got one, i played it at least 10 times up and down which does not happen too often. the recordings are no audiophile but i think we should be thankful for these to see the light of the day after more than half a century...also, there's a good possibility that another volume will follow. grab your copies now as these are hot!

it's been almost 10 years when this fun reissue came out. even arround the turn of the century it was already known and in huge demand and i never came close to a original pressing. never even see one. this 2010 reissue was highly wellcome, especially the edition of 100 handmade covers by Byard Lancaster, the man himself! i have #1 as i must have put my first order in and i remember it took months till this was shipped out.

apart from the cover, i think this is a jazz/funk masterpiece and i recommend it to anyone being in any of these genres...

Millie, I must confess to never hearing this before. I haven't spent a lot of time with exotica-inspired music. I'm sure, if I had come across this, I'd've seen the date was 1978/79 and moved on. That said, I'm listening to it now and it's quite enjoyable. And one of the fellows from Niagara is apparently a featured player. I shall keep listening and thanks for the tip...

also try not to neglect some soon-to-be-classic stuff, haha!. this must be Ruby Rushtons best album so far. just some fine ass jazz recorded in the famous Abbey Road Studios which has to mean something. i enjoy Ironside as much as i enjoyed Ghostface's Ironman in the 90s the day it came out, lol

Can’t report about this album (yet). I have the three studio albums of Placebo which I think are absolutely outstanding (musically, the sound is ok of the rereleases by MOV). I also have all the albums by the We Release Jazz label which are among the finest sounding I have heard (and great music).
So I‘m quite confident with this early Placebo output and will buy that eventually. Sorry, can‘t be of more help but also curious if someone could share some „first hand experience“.

i am a Placebo fan myself. thanks a lot @ChrisMcQueen007
this is enough to convince me to drop some dollars (again!), haha!
i would have grabbed this anyway but i thought somebody is going to say something negative in here, which would have been good for my purse. but as usual, it's the other way around...

Yes, Million, I think it‘s quite a safe „bet“ as this album can be bought for < €25 in Europe.
Those OG Placebo albums on the other hand go for amazing amounts...

it is a 20-something minutes session split in two parts with audio quality being very good! dig the first part more than the second but it is lovel to hear the whole thing for sure...

I neither have nor have heard Live1971. I am glad to know folks here enjoy it. It might make its way onto The List.

a little more on the dark and evil side but i did not know where to post this late night spin up. did not play this for years but it is one record that i want to keep forever. so special. also it was funny to discover my 12 year old review on discogs that i did not remember anymore and i have the same opinion still. remember buying this in a shop in Munich 18 years ago, the day they put it on shelves. damn, i feel old now...
