not necessarily psychy but funky:
Miles Davis - On the corner
The Art Ensemble Of Chicago – Les Stances A Sophie
Don Cherry - s/t (aka Brown Rice)

Ok Ink pulled some jazz funk stuff out.

Check out Jestofunk, sort of acid jazz 90s but highly funky. Not all of it is jazz since disc one is pretty house sounding, but Fred Wesley plays trombone and there is some sax and flute and jazzy keys, so I'm counting it. I usually skip the "jesto side" (electronic/house infused with acid jazz, very 90s sound but some tracks like Straight to You would work in loungy down tempo night sets) and go to the "funk side" which has a more organic vibe and holds up better.

Interesting fusion record, they're definitely in the pocket but it is sort of highly produced sounding. Bennie maupin plays on it. Gary bartz is on one track. And Lee ritenour on guitar. The vibe ranges from spiritual jazz to proggy fusion jazz.

Lalos arrangements are good and super funky. At times going full on disco jazz. Should be easy to find and cheap, I think it was a $5 record. Keeper for me.

First picked up this lp in a bargain bin as a yoot, and didn’t know what to make of it at the time. This Voodoo cover especially I thought was a joke, hilarious. Older and wiser I now recognise the album’s brute power.

Damn, thanks for all the recommendations. I'll be listening to all of them over the next few days. Already ordered a copy of Black Widow for $7.

Thanks for the heads up, Texas.
Music Matters and their pricing nowerdays… Well, they know what their albums sell for in the secondary market.

Yep. Down to just inner Urge now

I wonder if these are black wax or SRX. They didn't do these on standard wax initially

I was out in a different part of town taking a client to lunch. Running 20 minutes early I noticed a record shop on the block and stopped in. Here's one of the records I walked out with-- Sonny Rollins Plus 4, 1956 original Prestige and a museum piece. Wow. Really nice price on it too.

Another grab from today. Bergenfield deep groove mono, laminated jacket all in sharp condition. No audition stamps or writing. These are the cleanest good 50s jazz I've ever seen in Texas. They always have at least a name in ballpoint pen or an audition stamp or something and usually G+ or maybe VG at best.

Thanks man. They had this one too. I went back for it today. First press of Thelonious Monk Quintets with the original cover art, deep groove mono. They have two others I really want but theyre just asking too much. One is BLP 1501 Miles Davis VG+ the other is Miles Cookin' EX all the way, really stunning but they want way too much.

Snagged this one from ebay for quite cheap. Record is in VG+ almost NM condition. Jacket has a hole punched through it and a little rough around the edges but overall in pretty damn good condition for it's age.

Such a great album, thanks for bringing it to my attention @tex
I really like a few others of his I've listened to as well.

I wish I knew how to shop estate sales. I went to a couple random ones but never saw any records. $3 cookin 2nd press is a steal!!

its very competitive here, people just show up and buy the whole lot of records sight unseen. so if a sale starts at 730am or 8am you have to show up at least 2 hours early to get inline or else i don't even bother. it really depends on what i see in pictures or the description otherwise i'm too annoyed to just show up at any random sale.

Stopped at the local shop to pick up the Blue Note Classics reissue of Midnight Blue and saw a copy of Agharta, probably overpaid a little for it but the LP's are in NM condition.
