Nice one Tim.

Let me recommend this "Softly" reissue. Trovaiolis name is on it, but it could easily have Gino Marinacci's name instead. Nearly every track heavily features his flute playing, and it really shows why he was one of the best.

Outstanding record, very relaxing and nice. Highest recommendation

That's some finely aged schmaltz. But how is it a trio? The song on YouTube has drums, bass, guitar, piano and organ!

just a small heads-up as this is a 7" only, haha! Finders Keepers are doing a super-tough reissue of the crazy in demand Brussels Art Quintet. a belgian jazz heavy-weight. just so good! save yourself a few hundres dollars as i know this reissue is going to be fire...

peep sound samples over at Finders Keepers and support this less fancy but ultra important label!

Will snag one of these whenever they make distro stateside, it's a nice track. Although my 7" always just end up all mixed up in shoe boxes. I could never be a 7" collector. Give me a big box of dusty 45s for $10 and I'll have fun going through them, but I lose track of them so easily

i blame the @Dollar for hitting these two my doorstep yesterday...did not have time for Sounds Of Sound but Drum Method is solid stuff as usual. really want that Straight Ahead in addition, after listening to the J-Jazz comp recently. the other sound samples sound fantastic too plus i have a weaknes for jazz records with fish on the cover...

^ nice ones @Million. I am thinking of getting some of those as well. What is the best place/cheapest way to get these to EU?

tough question @Bez!

- i think the first four i got randomly from various ebay and discogs dealers.
- then at least 3-4 from Jetset Records japan (i order there from time to time as they have one super cheap shipping option to europe).
- and last but not least i have about 4 from a discogs seller called snoid

unfortunately, there is not one that i can recommend carrying all or at least a lot of them. after a while i have realized that Juno or Mr.Bongo get some of these in super limited quantities but they seem to be super expensive but still sell out within minutes.

if anyone has a EU hot spot, i would be happy to know.

As said above @bez I've not seen them cheap if you see them below £40 that is cheap imo.

@million

I don't have drum method yet. Liking that straight ahead, but not the price :/

don't know if you guys have seen this one? in my opinion one of the strongest new jazz(y) albums in a while! played it at least 10 times already and seriously...there is nothing wrong with it!

here is a short review that describes the album really well:

This twelve-track album truly captures the spirit of some of the best cosmic and astral-jazz recordings that were being released in the seventies by artists like Herbie Hancock, Lonnie Liston Smith, Marc Moulin, and George Duke. In perfect conjunction with their space-age instrumental sound, the album features a fictional sci-fi story about the band boarding a starship, traveling through space, and landing on an unknown planet that’s given the name “Aldorande” as a creative way to help describe the records music. A nice touch to say the least.

super thick quality pressing! peep over here to listen to the album: https://favoriterecordings.bandcamp.com/album/aldorande

Nice stuff @million may grab a copy but man £12.50 shipping from France plus the obligatory £10-15 customs fees :( that's the price of the album. Maybe some copies will make it to a UK seller.

No customs fees within EU. Order before brexit :-)

hype sticker caught my attention with the term: "Spacey Jazz Funk in a trio setting with Greag Foat, Paul Armfield and Ken Black. Library music and jazz soundtrack aficionados, take note!"...so i did take note, haha!

this is a lovely little 10" and the B side is so good! check Zola's Eyes...
