Hey all,

Moving to Western Australia next week and wondered if any of you could give me some recommendations. Perth/Melbourne/Sydney ideally but others would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

I live in Melbourne, and there are quite a few worth paying a visit to. although I'm mostly hunting punk/metal stuff. you should be able to find addresses for all these pretty easy via google.:

Collectors Corner / Missing Link in the city
Off The Hip for more garagey stuff (also in the city)
the various Dixon's around the city
Record Paradise (has moved apparently, not sure the new address)
Greville (not as good as its reputation but I did find a Canadian Subhumans lp in there one time).
Searchers - used to be good although not found much in a while.

The two best are:
Vicious Sloth, which is high end but all the records are mint.
Licorice Pie - always turn stuff up in here.

there are also good regular record fairs at Yah Yah's on smith st, and the boxhill record fair.

charity shops, I have found to be mostly useless. unlike the uk

Polyetser in Fitzroy and Melbourne are both great.
Record Paradise is at 15 Union St, Brunswick. Amazing stuff.
Licorice Pie is a gold mine of eclectic records.
Goldmine Records in Carlton.
Greville Records is great one week, disappointing the next and $$$.

Digging Melbourne and Sydney are also a great help.

Totally agree with @brucechimp, charity stores are for Kamahl collectors only.

if anyone from on here is in Melbourne and needs to grab any Death Waltz lps, the JB Hi Fi on Bourke street has almost the entire catalogue (bar the Fog, EFNY and the record store day stuff). lps are $30 and there was 20% of vinyl when I went in there today. I know it's better to support small stores and I would never ordinarily suggest buying records in a chain store over an independent shop, but this is really way cheaper than getting them on the internet etc. I filled some gaps in the collection this afternoon. good day.
