Soon to be moving and not sure of the new situation and may have to put collection into storage for a minute or more - The storage unit will NOT be climate controlled and with hot summers and cold winters I'm a little concerned

Beyond the obvious...putting them in a climate controlled facility or keeping them in the new abode...what can I do to help insure the records safety?

Well not sure what you can do, but I can tell you I had to store mine for a while through the winter (UK so not terrible) and they were just in heavy duty plastic boxes with blankets round them, and they survived just fine.

Other than that, ill look after them for you if you like!!

pb1974 - I sincerely appreciate the offer but shipping 2500 to the UK is just a little too expensive...damn tariff taxes!

The usual lp storage stuff - vertical, not too loosely packed, not too tightly packed, away from heat and moisture sources and preferably protected by poly sleeves - should get you most of the way. Depending how bad the conditions are you might want some sealable sleeves or try to put something over the whole lot.

Always worth unloading anything you don't really want or need any more before a move as well.

I'm in California if you want to ship them somewhere cheaper :)

...and thank you too lazyben! Just did a record swap here in San Diego and dumped a bunch...about 300...no soundtracks or library like Lps left the collection
