Rush – ReDISCovered LP Box

To mark the band’s 40-year recording career, on April 15, 2013, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) will celebrate with the vinyl reissue of the original Moon Records (pre-Mercury) release of Rush, as part of Universal’s reDISCovered vinyl series. Housed in a sturdy, custom box with a lift-off top, this landmark album is pressed on 200g, audiophile grade vinyl, from the original 1974 analog stereo masters, cut to copper plates using the Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) process at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Rush also features the original Moon Records jacket art, complete with the original MN-100-A/B Matrix etching, and will include a 16″x22″ reproduction of the first Rush promo poster, three 5″x7″ lithographs of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and John Rutsey, a 12″x12″ Rush Family Tree poster, and a digital download card for a free digital copy of this newly remastered release.

This just went up for pre-order. They have like a Dead Can Dance/darkwave sound to them. This particular one has leaves pressed inside the vinyl! And it's limited to 100. They're down to 30 as of 40 mins ago so it's probably less now. Black & gold pressings also available via Thrill Jockey.

Afterhours: Hai Paura Del Buio? 20th Anniversary edition.

Great album already, but this comes with a bonus disc with 21 acts reinterpreting the entire album. Damo Suzuki, Mark Lanegan and The Afghan Whigs* all appear. Word of warning though: it seems to be 90 Euros if you want it on vinyl...

Amazon Italy link (linked to the CD edition as that one's not silly money)

*Speaking of the Afghan Whigs: if you ordered their new one from Sub Pop, you'll be able to hear it sometime next week ahead of the April release date. I Cannot Wait.

Not sure how many of you guys already follow, but it's worth mentioning for those that might not...

Omgvinyl.com is a great blog to follow for non-ost vinyl releases, as well as soundtracks. The guy behind it is, rightly or wrongly depending on your view of how they handle business, linked to Mondo also. Anyways, definitely something good to check out if you haven't already...

Ulver have mentionned on their facebook page that a double lp edition of their ''Teachings in Silence'' album (compiling the two eps ''silencing the Singing'' and ''Silence Teaches You How to Sing'' ) is coming out this year, and that they're now working on reprinting their album ''PERDITION CITY''.

This is my favorite album ever. I have the first printing of the vinyl, but I'll get this repress as well, and you guys should buy it when it comes out. I can't stress this enough, you need this, bro.

Wow, @nathan I admit all I know of Ulver is Nattens Madrigal era stuff. What a complete transformation. I dig this. What's the story with them? When they get away from black metal?

I saw the Sunn((O/Ulver album at the store. Worth picking up? I think I might have missed the boat and have some catching up to do!

oh Man yeah just after Nattens Madrigal they released in 1998 'Themes from William Blake's : The Marriage of Heaven and Hell' which was some sort of electronic avant-garde rock opera. Trve Metalheads must have freaked out. Best track from that album is this one : Proverbs of Hell, Plates 7-10 .

It's not the first album I'd recommend listening to though. After Perdition City, the second album from them I fell in love with is 'Svidd Neger', a soundtrack to a norwegian film. it's tragic music and would probably please fans of the Let the right one in soundtrack. Check this track : wildcat

if you like that soundtrack, they also have the soundtrack Lyckantropen themes that has more electronics but equally amazing work.

Their highest regarded work is, i think ''shadows of the sun'' and a good track to give you an idea of it's sound woul be this one : All the Love

Their 2013 album, MESSE I.X-VI.X, is my favorite album of 2013.

the split with Sunn O))) is good yes, the best track from that split is Eternal Return

I'm sure anyone who is interested has already seen it, but preorders went up yesterday for a repress of The Mars Volta's debut album Deloused In The Comatorium.

This has been my most wanted record since I started collecting, so to be able toget a copy for less then £150 is a dream come true!

New Soundcarriers album finally up for pre-order on Ghost Box :)

http://ghostbox.greedbag.com/buy/entropicalia/

Featuring some of the tracks from the previous work-in-progress & locked groove instrumental "The Other World Of...", I can't wait for this one - also features This Is Normal with Elijah Wood contributing vocals:

EDIT: How weird - the above (official) vid has been on Youtube for 2 years through the Soundcarriers' own channel. The LP comes out, and it gets deleted...
