Some interesting news of a startup vinyl plant in Calgary. They're currently advertising 2 posistions (Electroplating/Galvanics Technician & Supervisor, Vinyl Record Pressing & Production)
Will be interesting to see how they go, and if it gets off the ground.
Much to the dismay of Canadian record collectors, Montreal-based vinyl pressing plant RIP-V — the last remaining plant of its kind north of the 49th — announced last month that it was shuttering. Yet mere days after RIP-V bid farewell, another conversation began, and this time, it centred on Calgary: A plant named Canada Boy launched a website, posted job listings and promised a renewal of the record-pressing industry in Canada, only this time, it’d be pulling industry away from its historical centre out east. - See more at: http://www.ffwdweekly.com/music/feature ... ing-issue/
Vinyl pressing may be coming back to Canada thanks to this Calgary upstart
Last Friday, vinyl enthusiasts were dismayed to hear that RIP-V, the only vinyl pressing plant in Canada, was shuttering after selling their equipment to an American manufacturer. While RIP-V hardly had a monopoly on Canadian record pressing—many still relied on U.S. plants, who were often more cost-effective and experienced—many still had a sentimental attachment to the Quebecois manufacturer. They were, after all, Canadian.
