The new sven wunder record is phenomenal.. not to be missed. Very well arranged and produced, and the record sounds really nice. One of the songs has the doubled acoustic guitar like AA and starts very much like an AA track, but then the horns come in and they expand on the idea and take it some new places. The players are very talented too, really across the board a lovely room full of strings, brass, and the flautist is great. Harpsichord paired with acoustic in a baroque progressive pop ear candy number. all the alessandro ingredients are here and the recipe faithfully recreated. Another takes some panoramic Feelings lines and blends in some more spontaneous/Watergate sleaze but reinterprets the mood as more of a searching suspense. Then you also get some Sven wunder specials, like one that starts off like the baroque cousin of an eastern flowers jam but soon morphs into a smoky jazz funk burner and back. Thoughtful details in the arrangement, big dramatic brass stabs and a drum clinic. The drums!! Yes. There's also one that throws the harpsichord together with clavinet and strings, a very savory and sweet sort of sound to the pretty strings laid on top of a nasty action/drama funk tune. The next track reminds me of the stuff the Beastie boys cut when they did that In Sound from Way Out LP but again lusher with the strings. The overall pacing of the record is just right too. I think it is the best one they did by a mile. It's a lot better than eastern flowers and Wabi Sabi and those were both great records.
