There is more space in the arrangements, and it's a much more melodic and jazzy album. Tracks like "Hanami" and "Komorebi" are my favorites and elevate the record. I could go for a whole album of just that stuff and without the harder driven Asian beats.
Nice write up. I love Eastern Flowers, so I broke down and picked this up along with Luz from LITA.

Conway the Machine X Big Ghost LTD - No One Mourns the Wicked
De Rap Winkel Records

One of my favorite hip hop albums of '20. Production from Big Ghost is excellent and Conway kills it. Really happy to actually have this in my collection. There were 2000 copies pressed and it sold out in a little over 20 minutes. This is the Marble Red variant (actually looks purple, lol) limited to 250 copies. Griselda records are super tough to get these days and the prices on the 2nd hand market keep going up. People are already asking over $200 for this variant on discogs.

I also love Wabi Sabi, exactly the same way as Tex does :)

Glad to see others enjoying it. I've listened to it 4 or 5 times now and just can't really get into it. I much prefer Eastern Flowers to it.

Saw Sixto live at a folk festival over ten years ago- before I knew anything about him sadly, at the time of his 'resurrection', and I barely paid any attention :(
Then I really got into those albums/the film/the myth, and saw him live again about five years ago.. and it was horrific. Truly a shocker. The man himself was just great, but he was backed by the most basic-as-fuck barroom blues session band, every song was utterly ruined. To cap it off the support was Manu Chao, who I was super excited to see live and he had decided to play his songs entirely in a comedy thrash-punk style. It was unbelievably lame and sad.
Memories!! ;-)

Ah that's too bad man. I had a similar experience with stone temple pilots. The band and the crowd carried weiland, but this was the 2008 reuniting tour and he was messed up or just not all there. I remember him getting some of the lyrics wrong, slurring through some other parts, and the band was heavy but the whole thing just didn't have the energy it should have.

I saw STP around the same time. Weiland was a fucking mess. He was at the bar drinking at 7 (my buddy was serving him) and didn't leave until 930. Their set was supposed to start at 9. They didn't hit the stage til almost 10, he butchered just about every song. Sour Girl hurt my ears, he wasn't even close to hitting the notes in that song and at times he was almost screeching trying to get to the high notes. It was embarrassing, I ended up leaving around 11, I couldn't take it anymore. The band was great but you could just see it on their faces, the "why are we even doing this" look.

Bruno Spoerri - Voice of Taurus

I discovered this through one of the new podcasts over at 2HD, Lethal Ethan's Mausoleum. It's good podcast and it's also the new home for Alfonso's The Music Cabinet (my favorite side podcast on the ol' DFN). The record itself is just some late 70's weirdo synth stuff, it's kind of all over the place and that's part of it's charm. You can check it out on youtube if interested.

Yeah, the first singles they released definitely had stoner/sludge vibes. I waited on it to arrive before giving it a full listen. It's different but it works & I'm digging it.
