I’m loving this. One of the few soundtracks where I don’t mind some dialogue snippets.

perfection.

Also finally giving the Beyond composers cut a proper listen...wow, just wow. i may pick up the retail version as well and keep the test pressing aside for safe keeping, but the mastering on this is just superb

Yes, the previous Composer's Cut releases (a CD I believe) were taken from live recordings. This is Frizzi with his current band going into the studio and recording the full Composer's Cut. The sample track on Birth.Death. Movies sounded fantastic. I can't wait to get my copy.

Ah man I think any Goblin you just grab, that might just be me though. After all, some of their releases give a weaker overall impression. Notturno is nice. It's a bit jazzy, city/crime rock, with melancholic piano ballads, quite a bit of sax and sparks of synth melodies. On the first, main title track, at 0:22 there's totally a Dawn of the Dead reference, followed by a James Bond melody. weird. I think it doesn't have the really good hooks of their horror soundtrack, but it's overall very nice. It's a bit on their more melancholic progrock side.

the main deterrent is that I think everyone who bought it agrees it's a bit of a noisy pressing. I can listen to it and it doesn't bother me but the noise floor is noticeable.

That sounds pretty interesting. I wish I had grabbed it, if my memory is serving me correctly I passed on it because the record store was charging an extra $10 more than what I had seen it online.

@tim - that Dracula score is one of my all-time favorites. Looooove that record.

The recent VS expanded CD is also superb and I can’t recommend it enough. Wish they’d put it on vinyl.

I just don't play CDs that ofen anymore so not sure it would be worth it. I do love the score and every once in a while I think about getting it. LIke you I keep hoping it will get a vinyl release from them or maybe lalaland, since they've been putting out alot of Williams on double lp.

It might be incomplete but it's beautifully sequenced into suites for 'listening pleasure' as an LP. However, what we really need is all of those dang library cues. That would be an ace project for a total MADMAN

I have the UK press of this - it's a full-force banger. Especially that amped up version of S.W.A.T, a firm fave of mine.

Plus the UK sleeve art is hilarious!
