Over the weekend I got the soundtrack CD for this film and a CD/cassette set for the film's sequel. The film is about YouTubers who stay in apartments that are supposedly haunted and film the results (spoiler alert -- it turns out the places are haunted). There was a film from 2020, Jiko Bukken Kowai Madori, that also had the same premise (and that one with a score by Fox Capture Plan and also released on CD). Maybe this is a big thing in Japan? Anyway, the soundtrack so far is a bit all over the place (in a good way): folk, dark ambient, pop, and noise.

It's a good score from James Horner early in his career. I have a promo along with The Wolfen so I decide to pass. Otherwise I probably would get it.

Shin jiko bukken part 2/Zenmetsu

This set came with a 2-CD set, a cassette, a postcard with autographs and doodles, and a cardboard box. The first CD is a mix of noise-rock instrumentals and horror soundtrack atmosphere. Starting the second CD now - looks like it'll be more songs than score. Not sure what is on the cassette. I quickly previewed the first minute of Side A, and it doesn't sound like the start of either CD. I'll have to reach out to the label.

This is a soundtrack for a Japanese miniseries in which (from what I ascertain) a classmate at an elementary school reunion holds his classmates hostage. I am only a few tracks in, and it’s pretty wild. The first track is standard contemporary classical, but then the next two tracks sound like something by John Zorn/Naked City/Painkiller — crazy, frenetic jazz skronk and ambient, sinister jazz. The fourth track sounds like something off an Invada release, with it being more creepy but restrained violin/classical, and the fifth was rumbling, experimental piano and sax. Just started the sixth track, and it sounds like spiritual jazz so far. So great and unexpected!

TPIM. Remastered CD from BSX they released in 2022 that I had no idea even existed until earlier this week. So far doesn't seem wildly different from the OG Silva CD.

Did you find that your front CD art was a little too big for the jewel case?

yeah it is, and it's kinda wavy because of it as well.
