New batch of Japanese soundtrack CDs today. First one is Takuma Watanabe's "Hai, Oyogemasen" ("Yes, I Can't Swim"). Normally, Watanabe does more ambient/electronic, but this soundtrack is a little more straightforward. It does have some dissonance and slight horror flourishes to it, which is interesting if you see the trailer. Looks more like a romantic comedy, although it looks like the male lead had a near-drowning experience when he was a child.

Yuta Bandoh | Tomggg | Ryo Maekubo | Shohei Amimori - 17-Sai No Teikoku OST CD

I really liked the cover art on this one, which got me following up on finding sound samples. Looks to be a TV series about an AI intelligence that picks a 17-year-old to lead an experimental city.

Goro Yasukawa - Fuyu Soubi/Ototo to Android to Boku OST CD.

Scores for two films. The first one is about an aimless young adult who hangs around with the wrong crowd. Slow, melancholy piano is the main instrument. The second film is about an engineer who builds an android of himself. The score is more electronic and a bit more foreboding.

DIVOC-12 OST CD

This is an anthology film about COVID experiences (although it looks like it has zombies). The score has many different composers and really runs the gamut. There is some Disney-esque music and singing, some '80s synth zombie/action music, delicate piano, ambient.

This is a treat. When I heard the one track on the Four Flies comp Esterno Notte, I ripped it and then played it into the ground. I even uploaded it to the tubes to share with others. I was so stoked by the Bembo bros sounds. It’s great to hear the full session with so many variations and takes of that killer theme in different moods and styles.
