Hey guys,

So for our tenth episode, TG and myself are putting together our lists of the TEN BEST VINYL OSTs OF THE 2000s. We're also going to do a sub list of non-vinyl/unreleased mentions.

If anyone wants to throw up their own, here's the thread to do it in or you can tweet out to us at @thedamnfinecast.

I'll post our lists on here when the episode goes out, cheers!

For Movies that were released in 2000-09 or actual soundtracks that were released in those years regardless of when the movie came out?

Good question, @monster. Also wanted to make sure it was 2000-2009 and not 2000-2015. You know, the naught'ys.

Nope, the 2000s guys - so, we're ranking our favourite soundtracks to a film released since 2000 until now, that are on vinyl.

We're definitely finding this a challenge, since so many more OSTs are getting a wax release in recent years, but that's why we're throwing in a separate sub-list of 10 best soundtracks on any format/unreleased.

Okay my top 10 scores for films made since 2000 available on Vinyl. Here they are in no particular order:

Gladiator
Maniac
Under The Skin
Beyond The Black Rainbow
Pan’s Labyrinth (maybe number 1 if i did put them in order)
Inception
Interstellar
Solaris
Drive
The Book of Eli (I might be the odd man out but I prefer this to any of the scores Ross has done with Reznor)

(copied this from the DFP thread when you asked the question on twitter a while back)

Again....a great list @Static. Thanks for (re)kicking things off in style!

I like that you don't have a problem with having multiple scores by composers....I personally struggle, feeling like I should try and share the love ;)

@disco when I originally made the list I was surprised that I had so many Zimmer scores on there. A big part of it is absolutely the lack of scores from 2000 and on that were released on vinyl.

Not to take anything away from Zimmer :)

True, true.....I can safely say that TG and myself are having to do some deep digging/soul searching for this "fun" feature. We thought the Carpenter-Ranking was tough!! :O

Zidane - A 21st Century Potrait - Mogwai (2006)

Not a full list, but Session 9 and Requiem for Dream are worth a mention.

I'm not sure we would have Under the Skin without RfaD's inspiring blend of electronics and orchestral work.

Aaargh, hard! I too thought it was just 2000–09, which would have been much easier due to the paucity of releases, but here goes:

The Virgin Suicides (1999)*
Donnie Darko (2001)
Solaris (2002)
Good Bye Lenin! (2003)
Moon (2009)
Meek's Cutoff (2010)
Inception (2010)
TRON: Legacy (2010)
Oblivion (2013)
Upstream Color (2013)

(* The Virgin Suicides premiered at Cannes in 1999, but wasn't actually released in cinemas until 2000. If this doesn't count I'll have Interstellar instead.)
