I'm totally losing my shit over the Super Hexagon EP. I've been hoping someone would release that for ages.

@Dollarhyde - thanks! And yeah, I'm passing those $100 pledges as well. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they'll put leftover records for sale without the rest of the pledge rewards for a lower price eventually... Wouldn't be the first time something like that happened :P

I posted this is our own Ship to Shore thread, but I thought that people might be interested in this one as well. Here's the SoundCloud preview for our MOTHER OST. The remaining copies will be going up for pre-order on August 26th.

Enjoy!

Minecraft Volume Alpha

The listening experience on vinyl is pretty good, and very soothing. Simliar to having an ambient/piano album, the pressing is very quiet which helps a lot.

Picture doesn't do it justice at all, but the lenticular 3D cover on the limited edition is neat:

After working tirelessly to get the kid into Italian libraries and soundtracks, this should hopefully be an easy sell for family listening/relaxing/studying.

The MineCraft OST looks really nice. I'm hoping to get mine soon.

Apparently there's been some issues manufacturing enough of the lenticular covers, so a lot of people who bought from other places than Ghostly themselves are having orders cancelled or "downgraded"... I'm not sure it was a good idea ordering from Europe to save on shipping now, although I haven't heard anything on my order so far :/

Iam8bit are going all in on VGM vinyl. Pre-orders for "BIT.TRIP Greatest Chips" goes live on Wednesday 10AM PDT.

I feel a bit the same as I did with the Hohokum one. The record will be really cool, but actually getting the 7 games + the full digital soundtracks is the real beauty in this.

@oaxaca - You mean Shinobi III and not Shogun ;) Also, Data Discs have confirmed that that one will indeed be one of THREE upcoming announcements.

Also I can add the Halo 5: Guardians and Everybody's Gone To The Rapture soundtracks to that list. Furthermore Iam8bit is also releaseing BIT.TRIP's greatest hits and the Super Hexagon EP.

Ship To Shore have also opened up for pre-orders for the MOTHER 2/Earthbound soundtrack, which I'm really looking forward to.

I did! Oops; changed in the original post. Speaking of which, I never really played Shinobi 3 thinking back, may have rented it once or twice, Revenge of Shinobi was the game in the series I owned on the mega drive. It was sooo tough but utterly addictive. Never did complete it.

Just listening to Invada's Far Cry 4 release. Superb soundtrack!

ps. cool website you have @rpbtz! Very useful.

God that vinyl and sleeve look beautiful.

Hey Data Discs you simply must release the ToeJam and Earl series. Some of the funkiest music on the Mega Drive!

Dr John would be proud of that!

@oaxaca

love it, mega drive was made for the funk!

It's a big ask but a sonic 1 and 2 VGST on vinyl would be sooo good.

The lovely soundtrack to recent indie game 'Dropsy' has got a limited 500 pressing vinyl edition. I just snagged myself a copy after finishing the game and falling in love with the music.

Sadly the trailer song isn't included, but it's not particularly representative of the soundtrack as a whole - which mixes more traditional synthy game tunes with laid-back jazzy numbers. There's a good sample on the store page.

This:

DATA003: SHINOBI III
Continuing our exclusive partnership with SEGA, we are delighted to announce our vinyl release of ‘Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master’ (or ‘The Super Shinobi II’, as it is known in Japan). With music composed by Hirofumi Murasaki, Morihiko Akiyama and Masayuki Nagao, ‘Shinobi III’ is a relentless bass-driven soundtrack which, upon its release in 1993, pushed the Mega Drive’s audio capabilities to its limit. Its strong percussive elements are something of a technical marvel and, like all of the greatest soundtracks of the 16bit era, showcases the ingenuity and resolve of game composers when faced with extremely limited hardware.

With audio sourced directly from a Japanese Model 1 Mega Drive (AV Intelligent Terminal, VA5 with stereo output mod) and painstakingly remastered for vinyl, ‘Shinobi III’ should appeal to anyone with even a passing interest in video game culture, FM synthesis or electronic music in general.

180g vinyl packaged in a 400gsm matt finish sleeve with traditional OBI strip. All copies also include a foldout poster featuring the original Japanese artwork, sourced from the SEGA archives.

Available in the following editions, each priced at £19.99:
180g oxblood and bone split coloured vinyl (limited edition and exclusive to the Data Discs website, while stocks last)
180g oxblood coloured vinyl
180g classic black virgin vinyl
Copies will be available from Friday 2nd October on www.data-discs.com and www.mondotees.com.

PLEASE NOTE: Copies ordered directly from us will begin shipping approximately one week after they go on sale, with Mondo copies following soonafter.

DATA004: SUPER HANG-ON
Using audio sourced directly from the 1987 arcade machine sound board, we are proud to present the first ever vinyl pressing of SEGA and Yu Suzuki’s classic driving game, ‘Super Hang-On’. Featuring music by Koichi Namiki, Katsuhiro Hayashi and Shigeru Ohwada, ‘Super Hang-On’ was one of the defining arcade games of the 1980s and had a soundtrack to match. With audio carefully extracted, restored and remastered specifically for vinyl, this classic soundtrack is sounding better than ever.

Housed in a meticulously designed custom die-cut sleeve, on 400gsm matt finish cardstock, with 300gsm printed inner sleeve and a traditional OBI strip. 180g vinyl cut at 45rpm for maximum driving power!

Available in the following editions, each priced at £19.99:
180g opaque tri-colour segment vinyl (limited edition and available exclusively from the Data Discs website, while stocks last)
180g classic black virgin vinyl
Pre-orders for this release will open in early-November, with copies expected to ship in December.

FURTHER AHEAD
We are also very excited to announce two more titles which, amongst many others, will feature in our 2016 line-up. First of all, we’ll be continuing our partnership with SEGA for a true arcade classic, OUT RUN, again sourcing the audio direct from the original arcade machine. We will also be collaborating again with Yuzo Koshiro on one of the greatest and most influential game soundtracks of all time: STREETS OF RAGE 2.

UPFRONT ACCESS
Similar to how we launched ‘Streets of Rage’ and ‘Shenmue’ back in May, we’ll once again be operating a password system when ‘Shinobi III’ goes on sale, offering mailing list subscribers upfront access to our website. On Friday 2nd October, our website will be closed for a limited period, with access restricted to mailing list subscribers only. You will receive a password via email on the day, which will be valid for a set amount of time. Passwords will be distributed at different times based on your timezone (please do not email us asking when this will be!), ensuring that everyone gets a fair opportunity to pick up the edition they want. Once received, simply head over to www.data-discs.com and enter your password in the box at the bottom of the holding page. Once this limited period is over, the website will then reopen to the general public. Full details will accompany your password.

THANK YOU
Finally, we just want to say huge thanks to everyone who’s purchased either ‘Streets of Rage’ and/or ‘Shenmue’ since May. They have been a great success and will be repressed later in the year for those who missed out (note: this applies to the translucent colour editions only). We’re looking forward to sharing many more exciting titles in the future, so we hope you stick with us!

With regards,
