thanks for the rip, @texas!

A seller in Australia made me a screaming deal on all of this KPM and somehow it arrived in like 9 days. That’s gotta be a record.

Last week I got these great Cine Musics from an Australian seller too (these took about a month to arrive).

This library was a total mystery to me but the price was right so I took a chance.
Really amazing Hi-Q type of orchestral stuff. I love it. Weird locked groove after every track - I assume it’s for live use where you don’t accidentally want the next track to start if you’re not quick enough to yank the needle off.

Cinemusic is a mysterious one. I have two that are pretty good. Have heard three others that were atrocious. All had yellow sleeves.

The weight and paper type of the sleeve, the look of the label and the impression in the center label is really similar to some Robert Hall Productions. I wonder if there is any relationship. There are some funky and jazzier ones too.

The bad ones were super duper short, a very production oriented setup. One cue with 3 second, 5 second, 10 second and 15 second versions, all locked groove. I think these were intended for radio spots, local news, really quick transitions, really putting the capital P in Production music.

They are not well documented and are hard to find, and the hand written jackets suggest very low print runs. Every copy I've seen has the same handwriting too.

How are the kpms?

I have a handful more Cinemusic coming from France. All of the ones I have are really good - I passed on a lot on Discogs that seemed like they are full of super short cues.

So far, I’ve listened to Impact, Today’s Achievements, and Flamboyant Themes. Impact and Flamboyant Themes are both really great. Today’s Achievements was good too, but a little more uneven.

Big band funk, but I love the jazzy head nodder "Omicron"

I am wasting time thinking about a Jekyll and Hyde mix where I play an hour of really pretty nice Italian bossa library and then a second hour playing through the same records in the same order but the 2nd half is all funk and beat/shake tracks. I chose this as a possibility because of the really nice laid back bossa track "Delicatamente" tucked on the B side.

Super solid day of mail. I really loved all of these.
Only real bummer is that Spanish Moog is so warped that it’ll actually skip for about the first minute of each side.

I’m not sure if I’ve posted this in here but my wife got this and the groovy pouch for me a few years ago and I finally worked up the nerve to use them when I got a few packages that had bent quite obviously bent in half. Anyway—it works like a dream. I hope you’re able to dewarp somehow Havershaw https://vinylflat.com/vinylflatproducts.html

thanks for the suggestion, @sosstark. I don’t know if I have enough warped records to justify that expense right now, but it’s good to know it’s out there.
This record isn’t really expensive, it’s just annoying because there are no copies in the US so I’m going to get hit with shipping almost as expensive as the record.

Only need 1 or 2 more and I’ll have this whole series of Bruton.

Got this for two tracks, "Neptune's Walk" credited to Peter Jacques and especially "Power Surfing" credited to "J. olek" but sounds exactly like a Keissling+Jacques cut from Quadriga.

This is pretty awesome! Stellar rerelease by Cinedelic from some years ago with which I am now finally catching up with.

Bought a semi rare OG library record from Italy and the seller had this one, too, so added it to the order. Glad I did, it‘s the clear winner.

^It’s a great one, @ChrisMcQ. You have inspired me to dig that one out again. The first copy I ordered actually had a small defect/hole in the vinyl, but Cinedelic was kind enough to send me a test pressing as they were sold out very quickly without replacement copies. I really enjoy the album, it’s wonderful.

This Alessandroni is quite wonderful as well:

texasvinyl wrote: Wed Aug 12, 2020 1:13 am Nice one! Which OG did you snag? I miss Marco's awesome library reissues. Cinedelic was the best.
@Deaf and Havershaw: I still need to get that Ritmo - an OG seems pretty much out of reach so will happily add a reissue to my collection soon.

@Texas: I got Brani Ritmici A Sottofondo by Patucchi. I like it quite a lot and potentially will like it even more after some more spins . You are probably familiar with the album and/or have it yourself. I was familiar with most of the album (especialyl I Mendicanti and Il Sesso Della Strega which are outstanding) so this was not a blind buy (would actually never do that with library if even slightly rare/expensive).

Naturally, it's very different music than the Brugnolini so my comment that the latter is the "winner" was oversimplifying things. I normally like the reduced, minimalistic sleeve designs of many library albums as it's basically part of their charm and a reminder of the use they were originally intended for. But the CAM library sleeve of the Patucchi comes across as VERY minimalistic next to the the great sleeve design with the psychedelic transparent cover that Cinedelic did for this release. What bugs me a bit with the Patucchi is that the audio levels vary on side A - the first three tracks are very quiet so you need to put the volume down substantially just before the last track.

@chris, nice pick up! il sesso Della strega is epic, long time want of mine.

I think there is often some disparity on some of these CAM libraries because, many, like this one, are a collection of tracks from different films recycled onto a libary lp, rather than made for the library lp itself (to my knowledge). So rather than a recording session and putting it to disc like feelings, or most other libraries, I assume they had to transfer tapes from various sessions to an LP. One way or another I imagine this would limit sound quality a bit. Contrastingly those CAM lps that are from a single session e.g. PRE series from my experience are sound quality wise a bit superior.

I would argue though that that in general they still sound pretty steller

@Dollar: You comment/analysis is spot on. And the varying loudness of the tracks is just a minor quibble, the overall sound quality of the full CAM record is very good.
