Haha, it's alright, I now have a long list of records I know I should listen to.

Love your Nel Mondo del Lavor review @Million! Cracked me up. But how did previous reviews got deleted?
And envy is big in the world of library collectors I see. Strange bunch :-)

I posted this in the regular New Release thread, but I know it deserves to be in here as well:

I'm seeing preorders for a Trunk reish of Buddy Collette's Polynesia pop up in the usual places. If you think you might like jazz, or exotica, or even a little bit of self-indulgent inner monologuing, you owe this one to yourself. Personally, this could be the reissue of the year for me.

strange bunch indeed @Bez! thanks for encouraging me. might do even more reviews...
i don't know how they got deleted and why but some discogs users may not have been as amused as you and have reported the review. it was deleted some time later but luckily i have a backup of everything i write on discogs so it was there one minute later once again.

so happy (for you @Mateo) to see this strange record being reissued! really love that one and it is no wonder Mr. Trunk loves that one, too...

i'm baffled...only a smart and sharp-minded gentleman like @Dollarhyde could answer a question correctly in the form of another riddle...

This was an easy one for me, I was trying to get a complete series at one point. I now only have the later S.M. releases (these are probably my favourite). I had a pink, green and brown one until not long ago.

Beautiful music,pressings and recordings.

sharp spot @Steve!

great ones @Dollar. Telemusic 28 is essential imo. never heard the Cavendish though...

here's the solution to the puzzle by the way. took me a while to get a clean and cheap yellow 1008. to cross the whole rainbow is a super stupid collectors thing!

does anyone know the history behind the 1st and 2nd pressing? pressing numbers??

this is what i can tell about the first 10, but i guess everybody knows about that already:

- 1st pressings do have a thick laminated cardboard sleeve in various colours
- 2nd pressings come in much thinner (all-)poo-coloured sleeves
- since the exception proves the rule, the 2nd pressing of 1001 has the same sleeve but i am almost a 100% sure, that i have seen a 1st and 2nd pressing of that one
- the 1st and 2nd pressings seem to be different ones. i remember having a 1st and 2nd pressing of the same catalogue number and the 2nd was much thinner.
- can't tell if the rule above goes for every single catalogue number but there is a very simple way to distinguish the 1st from 2nd. it's the ring on the label:

1st pressing (larger outer ring):

2nd pressing (smaller inner ring):

any more useless knowledge is highly appreciated...

I have heard 500 for each press. Nice job getting the color versions! I have a couple but most of mine are the brown 2nd press versions. And one of the color ones I have first press of course is the brown one!

500!! you sure?! i would have guessed maybe 300 max. of each. maybe even less for the 1st pressing. my thoughts were that they have pressed up a smaller batch of the 1st one, only to realize that they ran out of copies and made the second one additionally.

great to hear you have some brownies! would be super cool if you could add some missing info to discogs (matrix, runouts, pressing dates from labels and runout). maybe this could help a little. will do the same with the ones i have once i have a little time.

Who knows! I will play some. I pulled # 1004, which I have a brown jacket/2nd press. But it has a big inner ring on the disc not a small one!

fantastic! another exception proves the rule. please post a picture! need to see that one. just have checked every single label quickly. all of them have the big ring. also found a brown (2nd press) copy of 1003 on my shelf, which has the small ring again...

yeah, thanks! maybe they had some leftovers without sleeves and this is why a 1st pressing has made it into your cover...thanks again.

another one from my obucure late 80s italian library pile that i got some time ago. totally in love with this one! the compositions are not bad but also not groundbreaking and sounds like some late 80s pornoflick background music (and they probably are, haha!). the artist is totally unknown (to me) as well.

what i really dig is the artistic side of this record. just check the cover in connection with the title. it is a double bass player merging into another double bass making it a double double bass AKA quad bass AKA double bass smooching, haha! and then...there is the Green Wall label logo, which is one of the best library logo's i can think of...
