Do you guys have a particular release of Supiria you prefer? Sadly I don't own it and it's on the top of my list, but I have been hesitant due to so many releases. Thanks

@darrell excellent question. I see a thread in our future for these type questions. I don't own many of the commonly mentioned titles on this board for the same reason.

I agree, it'd be a useful thing. In terms of SUSPIRIA I only have the latest AMS reissue but it's really good. I can't vouch for sound quality but as far as vinyl goes the releases have always been the same eight-track program - on CD it's a different story.

Watched this movie last night on blu ray for the first time - which I mention only because of being impressed with how high the Goblin score was in the mix - almost an assault on the senses at times, which the film is visually too.
Like @filmsonwax I have the most recent AMS re-issue - the gatefold on purple vinyl with pop-up ballet dancer. Can't find any fault with it, but then haven't heard earlier pressings. Do like the look of the earlier pressing with the girl wrestling with the coiled metal wire on the cover.

I think @redgoblin may have provided some of this very info somewhere on the forum.
for example, he recommended this as the best sounding version of Zombi:

I know because I took his advice when upgrading my copy.

I have a Japanese press of Suspiria which has the nice pop up insert as per other versions, but also has a cool Japanese insert. I suspect it should also have come with an obi, but that was missing.
I also have Japanese presses of Tenebre (tip-on sleeve) and Roller which I love because of the extra inserts and obis.

I am in a similar boat as brucechimp. I have orig Japanese pressings of Suspiria and Tenebre and love them both:
Suspiria:

Tenebre:

And I have Red Goblin's recommended Dawn of The Dead. I still don't have my copy of Roller yet.

I'm blown away by both of these releases Darrell. I've had DOTD for a long time. Found The new AMS copy of Suspiria in a record store while I was traveling. These releases to me are secondary to the soundtrack connection. They are really great pieces of music on their own. I think that both recordings were made before the films were even made. I know that certain parts of the Varese Sarabande release of DOTD are not in the film. I'm not sure about Suspiria. I've never seen that movie.

With DAWN it depends on the version you watch - Having produced the film, Argento was allowed to produce his own version for Europe and his version, called ZOMBI(E): DAWN OF THE DEAD has more of Goblin's score.
