The second leg of the US (New) Goblin tour will see a different line-up on the stage. Simonetti, Previtali and Tani are out and they will performe in 2014 as 'Claudio Simonetti Goblin reloaded'. The Goblin line up of the US tour in december will be: Morante, Guarini, Pignatelli, Marangolo (and probably Zammit).

Whoa. What happened there? I'm seeing them tomorrow night. I hope we don't get a truncated performance due to band friction. Although sometimes that's pretty entertaining in its own right.

I just saw them on Tuesday and it was INCREDIBLE! I had never seen them before and was very impressed. They all seemed to be having a great time and talked to the crowd a fair bit.

Roughly how long was their set? Did they do an encore?

Set was I THINK about 2 hours (it was a night away from the wife and kid so I had a few too many). They did an encore (it was a second song from Zombi, there was another Zombi song earlier). They really seemed to be having a great time all night, I know I was.

Is the issue that Pignatelli and Simonetti don't get along?

I saw them in Toronto, and I don't know if it was in issue with monitors or what, but Massimo was constantly playing way out of time. He still killed the solos, but whenever he was playing rhythms or arpeggios, timing was right out the window. Tani was visibly frustrated through a lot of the show, trying to keep everyone together. No one else I've talked to or attended with even noticed, but it's all I could think about.

Simonetti left because he thinks that he IS Goblin, and the main reason for the band's success. At least this is what I heard on the Internet somewhere. I liked the BackToTheGoblin2005 album, and plenty of the albums without Simonetti.

I saw Goblin in December and I enjoyed the show a lot. I know Simonetti was one of the main songwriters, but having the original bass player and drummer was better. I mean, I think the other guy they got can play the keyboards just the same, he's not Emerson or someone on that level. I also think it made it more "proggy" and less "goth or metal".

There's something wrong in one of the two statements, and it's not the first one...

I’ve heard rumors of some ‘spinal tap’ situations on the tourbus but I haven’t read a single negative review of the concerts, the band kicked everyone’s ass once on the stage in both tours.
Simonetti and Morante are the most problematic Goblin members (and they are the founders of the band...).
