Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid - Bacharach
Life Aquatic - various
One From The Heart - Tom Waits
Rounders - Christopher Young

Guilty pleasure:

Lost in translation
Twin peaks
Twin peaks - fire walk with me
Mulholland drive

because they are my favourite non horror movies and the music fits perfectly.

By the way: will anyone release a reissue of lost in translation, mulholland drive and fire walk with me on vinyl please? Or does anyone has information about that?
THANK YOU :)

Edward Scissorhands, Conan the Barbarian, Barbarella, Robocop, Forbidden Zone. Still "cult" flicks I guess, but not really horror. Those are my favorite that come to mind.

Off the top of my head (probably because they've all had recent outings):
Jerry Goldsmith - In Like Flint / Our Man Flint
Louis Barron and Bebe Barron - Forbidden Planet
Paul Govanni - The Wicker Man
David Lynch/Alan R. Splet - Eraserhead
Danny Elfman - The Nightmare Before Christmas
John Carpenter/Alan Howarth - Escape From New York
John Barry - The Ipcress File
Jerry Goldsmith - Planet Of The Apes

plus if game soundtracks count:
Tomáš Dvořák - Machinarium

and, as it is on high rotation in the car for singing along to with the kids:
Paul Williams - Bugsy Malone

I'll add these, not all available sadly (though I have them in some form, inc boot from the film):

- THE SWIMMER and TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN (Marvin Hamlisch)
An amazing tunesmith....his best stuff has that 70s "thing" you know n love
- THE HITCHER and THE MODERNS (Mark Isham)
Versatile scorer, one a tense electro-ambient masterpiece, the other
beautiful 80s/20s retro Parisienne cafe vibes
- BARTON FINK and BLOOD SIMPLE and PSYCHO III (Carter Burwell)
He still hasn't topped these three for listenability outside of their
films, P3 is a stunner
- SOLARIS and THE UNDERNEATH (Cliff Martinez)
Masterpieces, everyone knows the first is contemporary electronica perfection, essentially reworked material from the latter
- SOLARIS and STALKER and MIRROR(Eduard Artemyev)
No comment. Except, I luckily have them all on wax, and you'll pry them from my cold dead hands...
- HIRED HAND and IDAHO TRANSFER (Bruce Langhorne)
The first was what got me started, killer Americana...the second is from Fonda's loopy no-budget experimental sci fi follow up.
- CUTTER'S WAY and PERFORMANCE (Jack Nitzsche)
Beyond essential, though no bugger has put out CW in any form. Criminal!
- THE TENANT and GHOST STORY (Phillipe Sarde)
If someone finally gets the Polanski stuff (inc Komeda) out on plastic, I'll put a ring on it and die happy.

- HIRED HAND and IDAHO TRANSFER (Bruce Langhorne)
Recently picked up the "Hired Hand" vinyl - a current favourite and should have been on my list earlier. "Idaho Transfer" should have been on my wish list post - criminally unreleased.

rhos.....you've no idea what excitement your post has caused, can't believe I almost missed this!!! Top ten vinyl grail for me, easily. Such a special piece of music (snif). THANK YOU! That's why this forum is going to rock! (Btw, I have quite nice DVD rip of the score from Idaho - with dialogue etc naturally. Let me know if it interests you as a stop-gap :)

I really liked the Drive soundtrack as well as Natural Born Killers and The Master. I'm looking forward to Only God Forgives and A Place Beyond The Pines. Just a few but there's so many good scores.

I'll second the Cry Baby selection, and follow up with Hairspray, which IS on vinyl, and just a fantastic addition to anyone who enjoys '60s rock 'n' roll. Sadly, some of the songs from the film are excluded (most regrettably, Bunker Hill's "Hide & Go Seek"), but it's well worth owning.

And anything Lalo Schifrin does is worth owning, but the Bullitt soundtrack works best divorced from the film itself. It's a legitimately danceable record that works well for background party music.

Discosucks - glad I could help! I presume you've bagged yourself a copy of the Hired Hand vinyl now, where did you find it? Seems sold out from most of the shops I frequent here in the UK, I'm guessing the label (www.scissortailrecords.com) must still have some.
