Story time! (no photos)

So this morning the wife comes and wakes me up, I apparently turned off my alarm this morning (I'm really good at this). I told her I was just going to sleep later since I'm late to work and at this point what's an extra 45 minutes, she's like no you need to get up so I stumbled out of bed and go downstairs, to see a bunch of candles lighting up the house and the Halloween soundtrack playing for me. A great start to my day. Then I get to work, my co-worker is dressed up as me (flannel & horror t-shirt, pretty easy costume) and we have apple cider & donuts. Good times. I will be spinning H1-3 when I get home later.

@Revolver_OcelScott - Always great to see Blue Velvet on a turntable.

The mono Halloween mix was enjoyable for me. The pressing sounded excellent, even here in headphones on the colored vinyl. I was a bit distracted while working, so I did not pick up on as many fluctuations in the sound levels as others, but I definitely prefer it above the expanded album with all the dialogue. I'm pretty damn stoked on the overall listen, as it put me in mind of the original film score. I feel it's a different experience from the original soundtrack album re-recordings. The total package is so dark and sparse with hardly any text. I understand the desire for minimal art design as a focus, and I have complimented metal albums for being mysterious without any explanatory text, but I feel that I have a lot of questions about this one, and would have enjoyed an insert with some info on how this recording was put together in detail.

Enjoying this one as well:

Frizzi's modern output is keeping my ears entertained, and already on my second listen. The splatter vinyl looks a bit like chunky gore:

I just got this yesterday and had a chance to spin it after the wife went to bed so I had my trusty ol' AKG K240's on. It's a beautiful record and there was percussion going on that I've never heard before. It's so feint and mostly pushed to the left channel but it's there. Sometimes you hear music for the first time, even though you've listened to that music a lot in the past.

I said the other day that the Mandy cover was the hardest to photograph, I take that back, this mirrored finish is even harder to photograph with out getting something stupid reflected in it.

This is a treat. Poe brutality very well-read by Anthony D.P. Mann, along with Frizzi's accompanying score. It's interesting to read the expansive backstory of the various book nods and film interpretations over the years in the liner notes written by our own @RedGoblin. This is a nice example of liner notes, which are featured prominently on the inner gatefold along with an additional booklet. Another top-shelf release from Cadabra Records.

I put this on the living room stereo to provide some background atmosphere for the trick ‘r treaters:

Not your standard scary noises album, this one is thick and murky with soundscapes.

So what exactly is the music on Halloween Sounds from the Upside Down? Is it unused stuff from the show, stuff that's on the previous releases? New? I really like the artwork on that cover.

Santa Maria! I kept forgetting to get this and now it's sold out from the usual haunts.

To tack on to what Deaf said, I believe these are previously iTunes-only bonus tracks from season 2. Since they only did one volume of score for season 2, they had a few tracks left over and here they are. I want it, and thank you Revolver for the EdAwesomeSounds link, but I may keep hunting around a bit for a cheaper price.

One thing I've noticed about edsawesomesounds is that he charges exactly what it would be if you ordered from the label itself. Lakeshore was charging $27 + shipping, most likely $5-$6 since Ed is charging $32. He doesn't charge for shipping so it ends up being the same which I appreciate. He often goes cheaper and every other week he offers either a 5-10% off your order coupon or a buy 2 get 1/buy 3 get 1 promo. So if you are not in a rush you may be able to get a little cheaper or a good bundle. Being a Stranger Things release you may get lucky with finding it cheaper on Amazon but I did that with Vol 1 and after 2 months of not shipping I just cancelled my order from them.
