ImageGuido & Maurizio De Angelis - 2019 Dopo la caduta di New York OST (2019 After The Fall of New York) [Beat Records Company DDJLP07DLX]

De Angelis bros with the icy laser synths and percussion bombs. How many treasures like this are hiding in the archives? I will have to check out the film.

ImageFabio Frizzi - From The Archives Vol 1: Frizzi Beyond Fulci [Cadabra Records/Ship To Shore PhonoCo. CADABR-77|STA-57]

A very eclectic compilation. I find the upbeat instrumental jams created for Italian radio programs catching my ear the most today, but I am already familiar with most of the big vocal tunes on the album. The track from the film Kamikaze is another instrumental workout though that has my head bobbing along. Excellent liner notes here, both from Frizzi himself and an additional insert from Stephen Thrower with a lot more detail — (e.g. I had no idea the mysterious Cricket was the maestro’s ex-wife, Paola Frizzi, who had sung on the demo track for Contraband that was presented to Fulci. They ended up recording the final version for the film as well). Looking forward to more from this archive series.

Not sure if I've shared this or not but Lady in White was partially filmed less than 5 minutes from the house I grew up in. One of the few things that ever happened in that small town (I did not live in the town they were just down the road a few miles). Wonderful film

Thanks for the breakdown @deaf, I do feel like I need to pick this up when I get a chance.

I spent the morning cleaning a stack of records and then the afternoon spinning a bunch of them.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge - Christopher Young
It's been a while since I watched the film but holy hell is this score just fantastic. I always felt this films poster was odd yet captivating, I can't help but just stare at it for an extended period of time when I see it. I think the person who owned this prior had cleaned it but the cleaner left a residue on the record. When I put my cleaner on it, it didn't react like normal and there was a weir color to the record. I cleaned it twice over with 3 rinses each time. After that my cleaner reacted with the record like normal. Sounds incredible, dead quiet, except a small passage on side B that has a few pops which might be from a surface scuff.

Red Scorpion - Jay Chattaway

I really enjoy this one, it has been on the table much more than I expected when I picked it up.

The Bird With The Crystal Plumage - Ennio Morricone

Another film I haven't seen in a while (one of my least watched Argento's) but after seeing @scojo recommend this edition over the others out there, I added it to my discogs and patiently waited for a good copy at a reasonable price. The seller listed this as a "collection level copy" yet when I pulled it out of the sleeve the record itself was filthy (dust, dirt, sleeve residue), after a solid clean it sounds incredible though. My Morricone collection is very small but I'm slowly adding to it.

I just openend this brilliant packaging from Beatball. Like @deaf I also ordered the black vinyl but got the colored one. Sound quality is fantastic!

And look at the artwork and extensive notes.
Also some very interesting re-issues that are planned by Beatball. But who knows how long it will take before those see the light of day.

It's been so hectic the last few months, even though I'm getting through a listen of each new arrival, I'm only know really digging deep into this compilation of Korzynski work through GAD Records which I've had since April. And it's a bloody revelation on re-listen! Just within Side C (which I didn't get a proper listen to previously) I'm truly blown away by the composer's range and chops in all areas of scoring. It goes from heavy electro disco to killer Euro jazz funk in the style of Gorageur, to sweeping romanticism a la Kilar and the weird-out Frizzi-dark-horror of Possession, then to top it all off there's a Top Gun style 80s anthem with screeching Faltermeyer guitar solos! I've spun just this side about five times now, and each spin brings more joy. Can't recommend this (again) highly enough, available direct from GAD Records in Poland. It's really cheap, and the shipping to UK at least was very reasonable (although tbf that was pre-Brexit Times...)

*EDIT* Just checked the GAD store and think they still have both black and colour vinyl in stock, but also a few copies reasonably priced on Discogs fyi...

I tried at least twice to purchase this from day one of the show (which I looooooved) and for various reasons the deals fell through/never received the album. Kinda gave up/forgot about it. Then recently I happened to see it was only 15 quid via amaz*n w/free shipping and I crumbled. Amazingly, it turned up without any sleeve damage! This time they packed it in an actual record mailer.... but then still inside a giant oversized box. Fucking weirdos.

Anyway... I'm sure I don't have to tell you that this is Martinez and it rips in all the good ways.

Invaders from Mars is one of my earliest “this is scary” movie memories. I’ve never seen a split rail fence or light from behind a hill that doesn’t give me at least a momentary chill. Hooper rocks
