@Static - Still waiting for my The Thing to arrive. Glad to hear it's up to snuff.

@Evan - Shh! If we don't acknowledge Static's homemade R2R productions, maybe they'll just...go away.

@Tim - That sticker rules. Somewhere I have an unused The Fog bumper sticker that I'd been saving and now I think I know I need to stick it.

Wait those r2r covers are homemade? That's awesome they look really good.

Still can't believe about johann. Did they ever say what happened? He was really young. He was one of the best in the game. So nice someone is listing this record for 200 euro, classy move.

Holy cow. I'm not sure I knew this movie existed.

PS - Well, after a cursory search, I'm damn sure I didn't know this existed:Image

PPS - Larry Cohen directed both sequels? There's no excuse for my ignorance.

PPPS - I really need that It's Alive III poster, guys. It'll go great with my Short Circuit 2 poster.

So please keep your eyes peeled out there for your boy.

@Mateo first time I saw It’s Alive was on Commander USA’s Groovie Movies. Been a big fan of Larry Cohen’s ever since. :)

How Cohen got Herrmann to score the sequel is beyond me. But it is a seriously great little score!

Static, I love LC. And I didn't think he had a film I wasn't at least aware of. This has been a real eye opener.

PS - I showed Q The Winged Serpent and The Stuff three weeks ago at my local movie night.

Larry has been a huge hole in my movie repertoire. I absolutely adore The Stuff and Q is great, really excited about the It's Alive trilogy coming out from Scream Factory later this year. Curious what to see what everyone's favorites are, they will probably influence the next one I buy. I just got a DVD of Return to Salems Lot recently. I've been meaning to revisit Hooper's original as well

King Cohen - Top 5

1. Demon (aka Gold Told Me To)
2. Q-The Winged Serpent
3. The Stuff
4. Black Caesar (at the crib ;)
5. It's Alive

Wild Cards/Personal Faves: Special Effects/Private Files of J.Edgar Hoover/The Ambulance

I really need to see Bone. Not sure how I let that slip for so long...

Anyone seen Return to Salem's Lot? Well, god bless you if so,easily his worst... and yet... STILL worth a watch!

Top 5 LC Directorial Efforts
1. The Stuff
2. Q: The Winged Serpent
3. The Ambulance
4. Black Caesar
5. Hell Up In Harlem

The Stuff is number one by a country mile and, frankly, if this isn't your favorite Cohen flick, then you haven't seen it. Two through five are largely interchangeable. And if we get to include films he's written this list will change drastically. And double in size.

1. The Stuff
2. Maniac Cop
3. Q: The Winged Serpent
4. Best Seller
5. The Ambulance
6. Body Snatchers
7. Black Caesar
8. Hell Up In Harlem
9. Maniac Cop 2
10. Original Gangstas

I’m going with movies he directed.

1. The Stuff
2. Q
3. It’s Alive
4. Black Caesar
5. Special Effects

The one bad one I still like is Deadly Illusion. Billy Dee as a detective named Hamberger! :)

For me, yes, but by all means, make your case. I'm all eyes.

Yeah, and The Stuff has The Stuff. I'm not peeing in Quetzalcoatl's Cheerios, but I am pumping The Stuff's tires. It's that good.

This list is real. I don't think I've seen Deadly Illusion. I'll rectify that.

PS - Now I want to see which films you'd sub in from his screenwriting portfolio.

@Mateo Deadly Illusion never made it to dvd. But well worth a watch if you can find it online somewhere.

I rented it a few times in my youth and it stuck with me. :)

As for the the flicks he wrote that would make it into the top five... easily Maniac Cop and Best Seller.

I remember the VHS box; I'll find it.

I had a feeling Best Seller would make your list.
