This one is ESSENTIAL guys. Short and sweet 12" on Spinney which was reissued a few years back, Side B has a lovely suite of electro horror ambience but man, the A side is the real juice!! One of the most badass opening title sequences/themes in horror history! All from the superb cannibal-in-the-London-underground picture which yanks know as RAW MEAT (amazing title alert!)

From the director of Dead and Buried, and Vice Squad. Music is by Wil Malone, writer and arranger from 60s thru 80s who worked with EVERYONE Inc Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Kate Bush! Look him up- and his one solo LP of drippy psyche is a big favourite of mine...

An absolute killer, from a great 70s crime classic that hopefully people are aware of. This was reissued last year, must pick up a spare as this score mix of orchestra/late 70s electronics is my jam. The theme is just straight fire, however you cut it - and it's use in the bravura c!osing shot means it ranks among my all time faves.

Not sure I've ever seen this get much love - which is crazy, because the score for Shaun of the Dead is soooooo damn good!

I urge you to dig this out and spin it asap if it's languishing on your shelves, along with Attack the Block this is a great, underrated modern British electro score.

Great recommendations @ScoJo - I have the spacey Trunk G-spots comp and have been eyeing up The Tomorrow People one. Don't know how that passed me by. Was mildly terrified of the TV series as a kid.

Brilliant TV science fiction sounds by That Thunderbirds Guy. Man he could write the fuck out of a theme tune. Mondo have been saying they have a release with this title, no idea what it could be.

Definitely a reissue due for the John Scott/Norman J Warren stuff. Ace Brit sci fi horror malarky, Scott is a seriously underrated composer.

Howlround's 'Ghosts of Bush' is quite something - a hauntological horror contrived from manipulated tape recordings made overnight at the empty BBC Bush House studios before they were demolished. They are the real keepers of the Radiophonic flame.

Galactic Nightmare on Trunk - an early 80s homemade sci fi concept album, originally a tape release given away with a computer mag. Astonishing, and a real outsider classic that must be heard to be believed.

That's a funny one - the Cyclobe track is from an old LP of theirs, adapted to the movie and added to the restored dvd release (presumably with director George Barry's approval)

Phantomcode told me that any Cyclobe music would come out through their own label, but sadly they haven't seen fit to release this as yet. I love Death Bed! Screened it at midnight once in my Outer Sight film night days, to mass bemusement ;)

As a neat segueway from@ScoJo's Trunk Records-related postings... which I believe Jon Brooks may have had a hand in with regard to the mastering and sequencing... spinning Jon Brooks' latest solo album.

Probably his most ambient and 'barely there' release yet, going by his previous releases on Claypipe (which I've enjoyed in all their polyphonic glory).

Have had a couple of spins and straining my ear to hear a standout track on Autres Directions though. Others seem to be raving about it, and of course the clear vinyl first press sold out in 24 hours or so, so will delve deeper in case I'm missing something... :)

So good! This blood-red slab of creepy sleaze is just killing it tonight. The Mainetti tracks have a lot of moaning synth chorus echoing in dark ambient soundscapes, along with funky drum machines slinking up in trenchcoats and pulling out knives:



The collaboration songs on the B-side as Clue in the Crew are an 80's mishmash of guitar/pop/rock/jazz/lounge tunes, along with three shorter instrumental versions that could pass for cheesy upbeat 80's synthfunk. An interesting time capsule, but the Mainetti tracks on Side A are worth your time.

I am so stoked on the output from WRWTFWW. After Midori Takada's inspiring Through The Looking Glass LP, which has been in heavy rotation here, this is another beauty in hand: 180gm bright red wax sounding pristine, and also a super thick, Stoughton tip-on sleeve. Bring on Ghost in the Shell.

played this one again and it's fantastic!

when it comes to socres, there's only a few that i call must haves. this is one of them. to be honest...i've never seen the Hanged Man but who cares? the score is bangin!

one year later all the unreleased cues were pressed up for the Themes International library label, spread over two volumes. these records are kind of milestone for UK library music and highly recommended.
