THE DREAMS: Delia Derbyshire/Barry Bermange

I have previous boot of this with screenprint sleeve (one of my treasured/most fav LPs actually) but that was pressed from mp3 files- I actually looked into releasing it officially (turns out Radiophonic archive/Mark Ayers do actually have tapes of it) but happy enough that someone is finally doing it up proper like. It's incredibly atmospheric electronic/tape drones, built around cut up spoken word of people recalling their dreams. Originally part of a BBC radio series in the 60s. Amazing stuff.
HOOly shiit...Listening to this on youtube right now for the first time, five minutes in... Totally need this..

Thanks for bring it to our attention!

My Brethren. I miss you like a bald man misses shampoo. Which is a lot. BUT I saw a Cool Thing today so here it is:

https://deanhurley.bandcamp.com/

Sacred Bones is releasing Dean Hurley's Anthology resource Vol II on wax! They have also stated that Vol I is restricted to digital due to some contractual/ licensing issues which is indeed a bummer. Still! We have this one. Also, while both the colored and inky black LPs are available on the Sacred bones site, the colored is less expensive through the b/c I have linked above. I always bet on black, but I still bought it on b/c anyways. Hope this finds all of you well. Chin chin!!

I’m not *necessarily* complaining, but I can’t believe we’re getting a complete Fletch Lives score before we get one for the original.

First ever LP reissue of this ultra rare italian soundtrack originaly released on cult CAM label. Gianni Marchetti wrote this beautiful score for the Eurospy film « il Magnifico Tony Carrera » as he was more of a songwritter than a film composer.
The score includes lots of different atmospheres and crazy arrangements : from fuzzy dark psychedelic themes with harpischord and haunted choirs (performed by the famous 4 + 4 di Nora Orlandi) to angelic and dreamy vocal themes. Also contains some tense climax sitar tunes with beautiful bass sound.
Compared to the original CAM LP, this reissue dropped some uninteresting carnivalesque tracks in order to include some nice unreleased variations of the themes, plus all the suspense cues that were largely removed from the original tracklisting.
« Il magnifico is definitely a major score of the Italian Silver Age

So, Notfornote Music (aka the label that released the Howarth re-recording of The Thing) is apparently releasing Edgar Rothermich's recording of Blade Runner in late August on 2xLP. Heresy though this may seem, Rothermich's version is perhaps my favorite presentation of the music found in the film as it is ruthlessly accurate for the most part. Also of note, this is presented as a fifteen track affair which mirrors the 2014 CD printing of the album and not the 2012 seventeen track affair, although I believe the music is identical between the two. Bottom line, this is probably pretty legit and, even though I could only find it at 2HD, I still took the plunge. Here's hoping I get it before 2020; that;d make my Holiday season.

Blimey!

Thanks for the intel bub- I shall do me a bit more research into this, I am generally speaking highly 're-recording averse' but admit I'm intrigued. I believe Brother Static has mentioned this guy's version before.

In other news- the Ghostbusters score was due for release yesterday, got a notification from Amazon that it's delayed. Until August 9th. Almost two months. More promises broken in the heady world of vinyl production :-/
C'est la vie, mes amies.

Here's the full Blade Runner re-recording if anyone's interested. Must admit sounds spookily spot-on from what I have just sampled. One thing- it's advertised as 're-recording of Vangelis' score' but Pompeii 76AD is actually by Gail Laughton (found on the LITA 3xLP box set of new age music, I Am The Centre).
Also- the version of 'One More Kiss, Dear' is the real chink in the armour. It's kinda yuck.

Not sure - but I feel likewise. Will probably cancel that Amazon shizz and pre-order elsewhere's if I can find it.

EDIT: is up on Norman's for a couple quid more.

So, in the CD liner notes, everyone (and I mean everyone) is given their proper due and Laughton is definitely not overlooked. As for "One More Kiss Dear," I concur. It is just not the same and I alternate between skipping it and tolerating it depending on the prevailing winds. That said, I think the rest is pretty glorious and, to my ear, the best and most complete representation of the music in the film. Somewhere in the World Wide Web there is an interview with Rothermich about the lengths he went to to acquire and properly implement all of same equipment Vangelis used to make the music as authentic as possible. And since every *ahem* legal version we have of the score is a rerecording of one sort or another, I'm happy to have it.

Good to hear :)

I'll look for that ta - it's VERY obvious that pains were taken, that's for sure. It sounds crazy spot-on!

Truth time! Thanks for the reminder sir.
