Sweet god that mug is awesome!

About to give this a spin, cast recording of the Bowie jukebox musical based on man who fell to earth. Haunting and gorgeous, opens with hello Mary Lou too hahaha.

Brings back memories of last year...as possibly the last creative output from the man himself it stirs some serious sadness, but the cast is great and micheal c hall surprisingly has the pipes and tone to do his numbers and Bowie beautiful justice. The album was recorded the day after he died....and you can hear it in their voices. There will be a lot of tributes in the years to come but this one strikes a really beautiful chord.

The last addition to the collection for 2016.
Each time I see this one the price seems to be a bit higher than the time before so I decided to grab it while I could still get it at, what I consider, a reasonable price.

Giving 2016's final new arrival a quick spin before some friends stop by. It is WWRTFWW's best release for sure. The sound quality is great, and they went with a nice heavy jacket for the 10". There are several locked grooves to start each side which was a nice Easter egg. If only all of their prior releases were this high quality (especially Tra Scienza...). And the Italian tracks by Nicolai, Cipriani and Morricone are all winners. Basically a six track Italian compilation -- the film is from 2009 although I haven't seen it. Supposed to be a pretty good Belgian-French giallo horror.

Happy new year to my fellow vinyl enthusiasts and music obsessives

Joining @texas with a first of the new year spin of Amer and a few others I found & acquired just before Christmas...

The Tenebrae is the Japanese issue complete with OBI and B&W booklet. After hearing the 'Goblin gone 1980s synth' score when watching the blu ray recently, knew it had to be an instant purchase. The 'Glistens' LP is 1980s library synth, while 'Waterloo' was one of those movies that always seemed to be on BBC2 of a Sunday afternoon growing up. When I saw both Nino Rota & Bruno Nicolai were involved with the score, that was another easy purchase decision.

Hope to add The Social Network vinyl to the collection some day when it is not prohibitively expensive/the re-issue isn't an instant sell out. Still, £3 for the silver circle version is wearable ;)

Michael Giacchino ‎– Jupiter Ascending
Music On Vinyl ‎– MOVATM029
2015

My #1 favorite purchase of 2016. Purchased in January '16 it had more plays than anything else I got this year. This one is up there with Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams. Great orchestral and choral compositions, it has everything a great score should. The only negative thing I can find to say is it's ALOT of music. Be prepared to give it some of your time, over 1 hr 30 mins spread over 2 lps. Available for a listen on Spotify.
Highly recommended!

@texas, the score made me want to see the movie. I didn't think it was terrible, it was fun if taken for what it is. Maybe I just feel that way because I enjoy the score so much. ;

The movie is crap, but the score is stellar. A must-have if you like Giacchino.

@tim - Based on your recommendation, I will have to give Jupiter Ascending a standalone listen. :)
@static - Glad to hear The Fountain black vinyl is satisfactory.

Still absorbing this one:
