@Tron, now that @Voodoo mentions it, it makes sense. April 16th is not only RSD, but also a Saturday. Amazon often list RSD releases, even though (I think) they're intelligible to sell any of them for RSD (maybe later). This doesn't mean its an exclusive, limited to 1,000 or the colour, but I'd bank on it being a RSD release. Cheers @Voodoo, wherever your source was.

RELEASED FOR RECORD STORE DAY 2016-FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED! -
Limited to 1.000 copies on "flame" coloured vinyl. Making its debut on vinyl, Wojciech Kilar's haunting soundtrack to Roman Polanski's disturbing film 'The Ninth Gate' (1999) features at its core the vocals of Korean born soprano Sumi Jo. Kilar established himself as a horror score composer with 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' and his work here on Polanski's film achieves a creeping sense of menace worthy of Polanski's dark tale of Satanic worship.

Tron4Life wrote:@EvanCampbell Thanks for sharing. Huh, that price.
Silva Screen is always overpriced, then if the sales are low the price drops a lot. This looks especially crazy, $60 before shipping, is there something unusually expensive about the packaging? I just bought a Sermi Records original in mint condition for that price.

Is this an "RSD" release you can preorder or a real RSD release you have to fight the eBay hell beasts for?

Yeah it is pricey...and potential sound issues being flame colored. Make you a bit cranky to pay all that and hear bacon sizzle. Still going to get it...such a great score!

it's funny that Silva Screen are going to do Ninth Gate. in the past two years i was negotiating with them, trying to get the rights for a vinyl reissue. things got specific and i was really close but they rejected in the very last minute saying they are not interested in doing a vinyl issue at all. looks like these greedy little vultures have stolen my idea and made the release by themselves, haha!

anyway, still good to see this getting a release. hopefully they will do a good job and don't f**k it up like they did with the latest Secret Soundtrack series.

enjoy...

I forgot about VAT, so it isn't much more than Silva usually starts off at once the VAT comes off. Still too much $$ given Silva's release quality which is nothing special.

Yes, it's a no-frills no-extras reissue by Geffen, but it's on 180gm solid black wax, and it sounds incredible. Recommended.

I had the exact same situation with Nightmare on Elm Street.

Wonder if that's final artwork (though to be honest would still probably buy it if it came in a brown paper bag)?
I didn't even know this was happening. And so quickly! Listened to the OG over the weekend. Killer sounds.

Well, i'll be refreshing Sacred Bones all day then. damn this was an unexpected treat. so far you can only pre order it on iTunes from SB, but I imagine they just haven't gotten the orders set up for hard copy yet....oh man oh man.

I've done it for certain things. The new (I guess last now :() Bowie record was one time. I know I wouldn't be able to get to a record store until the evening of the release day andIi had a long car ride to a client early in the morning. This way I woke up and there it was ready to listen to before i snagged the hard copy that night.

Otherwise yeah, i feel like what's the point, It's not like it will sell out.

What is annoying me is that its available to preorder there, and hard copies are up for pre order in the UK, and here i am a subway ride away from the label itself and they haven't even put up copies yet. They have to know that once this announcement was made that people would be wondering what's up.

AH well, it'll happen sooner or later.

Still early in the states, they'll probably get it up soon. And I don't think anyone else will be carrying the inevitable silk screened / wax sealed deluxe version.

HA, it ain't that early :) almost lunch time from where I sit.

Brooklyn does tend to wake up later than everyone else up here though.

Oh this hobby.
