I have seen this anime film used as a litmus test on unsuspecting viewers to great effect, and if you are unfamiliar with it... well, view at your own risk. It was described by the original manga author as, "repugnant, cruel and sadistic, yet brilliant". It certainly is memorable even decades later. The original score by Masamichi Amano is a meltdown of high-octane late 80's demon-possessed electronic riffs. Just look out for those tentacles...
