I am going through my list on discogs and I see I added around 7 extra pages to my collection :-) Tapes, singles and LPs that is.
LPs with release year 2021 amount to around 50. I see that contains the re-issue for The Fountain as well.

There are the BOR and RR releases. On of my favorite ones is Cruising. And Looker. Dirty Harry.
Only 1 release from DWRC: Nightmare City
Terror Vision did an amazing job. People Under The Stairs, The Gate, Sorority Row

I cannot pick out a winner. My goal of 25 new Morricone a year got halted at 23... But I did not count the 10 LPs from Dimensione Sonore. Tomorrow I'll take some pictures of my year in vinyl.

I'll have to think about it and like Bez look at my discogs collection.

I focused on a lot of reissues and VS releases this year so my new stuff was definitely a back seat

Alright I was bored on my lunch break today so here we go....

It's a lot and definitely excessive. Nothing ranked. Overall I had a great year collecting some old stuff, little bit of new, Italian reissues, tons of great hip hop (even if the physical end of it is being turned into a scalper/flipper nightmare) and other random shit thrown in.

That looks like a fantastic year in vinyl for you :-) Who would have thought in the beginning of 2021 with all the pressing shenanigans going on.
I think the love for OG versions made up for a lot.

Yeah, honestly priority wise Spirited Away and Mononoke are higher on the "to buy list" for Ghibli scores but eventually I would like them all. I know @dollar recommended it at some point and I took him up on the praise, both the Porco Rosso score and it's image album are wonderful. As is Mononoke's image album. I wish they were all a little cheaper but they are quality pressings and presentations

My Morricone pickups from 2021. Best record of the year for me probably is the OG Uccello.
24 soundtracks I did not previously own and the rest speaks for itself.

Beautiful stuff @bez. I was curious to see how many Morricone I picked up this year and it looks like it's about 16 which is a pretty good number considering I wasn't trying to hit a specific number. I would probably say Eat It was the biggest surprise for me, after seeing @scojo post about it I went looking for it and was blown away by the music on it. There's still so many to obtain though haha

Fantastic Morricone additions @Bez!

Besides the OG l’Ucello the Dimensioni Sonori and the Diavolo Nel Cervello are a special joy to see. Musically these are anyway top notch. One cannot have enough Morricone.

Enjoying these lists guys, and taking notes.

@Inks and @zuko, agreed the Hisaishi reissues are nice but soo expensive. Did you see a few more were released around November e.g. the US score to Laputa. I nearly picked up Ponyo on release but could only afford Spirited away and Princess kaguya.

@Inks, L-gaim DT is great, I also have really dug the pharoh no Haka DT which I picked up after you praising it.

@scojo also a big fan of 80 by Andrzej Korczynski

I'll make up a list but it will be just records I purchased in 21, as I think for new releases this year I I'm in single digit numbers.
I focused a lot on trying to complete label/series runs, often filling the gaps for the cheaper/non essential/not good😅 titles I had previously passed on. But, also a few rare grails here or there too. Definitely stumbled across a few obscure treasures along the way.

The main culprits were the:
Columbia Nippon Digital Trip Series (3 short of all 53).
Futureland, LP releases (still missing a handful, the Kimagure Orange Road reissues helped 😉).
Animage Hi Tech series (short lived Animage equivalent to the Digital Trip series, I got all 9 though 😀)
Also tried to pick up more from the Animage label in general, and more Joe Hisaishi.

Outside of all things anime I've really been digging the GAD label and venturing more into Polish and other Eastern European soundtracks, synth stuff, funk stuff etc...

And, like many here, I've wanted to pick more og VS and similar old labels but only managed to grab a few.

Awesome Morrricone collection, what is the Japanese 7" in the first picture?
It is this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/6770942 ... or%C3%A8me

Ennio Morricone – テオレマ = Théorème
Thanks @Bez, and what a great tune. I've not really heard the Theoreme OST, I know it's a fairly popular one of his from that era.

"Beat No 3" from the same film is one
of Ennio's all time greats!

Shame that the Theorem ost lp only has one side of score, the other being classical jams. I'd still like to pick up an OG some day though.

I am waiting for the Japanese version. There are a couple of Japanese Morricone I still want. I do think I have most of them. For 2022 I will again go for at least 25 new Morricone titles. There are a lot of cheap OGs from the 80s available to help me get to my goal easily :-)

Thanks! Although I feel that this particular set leans heavily on the ambient/drone/experimental side. I do want to go back over the next couple of weeks and relisten to these, giving them more time than they typically get.
