His whole series is really great, highly recommended
@hatter, I agree! Both The Adversary Cycle and Repairman Jack series are terrific. I enjoyed how he ended up merging the two together.

Just finished this. It's a fun read and all the vinyl collection, crate digging, and audio references make it that much more enjoyable.

i did not read it but stumbled across this today. a very fine V.A. jazz selection on 2LP, that should accompany the book which is a cool idea i guess...

peer over here...

That looks pretty interesting. I may have to add it to the mile long "to read" list.

this one belongs more to the "to gawk" list. i really got busy with adventures in the mid 90s, playing Monkey Island and Day Of The Tentacle on the regular. damn, i have wasted so much time with Guybrush, haha!

These two books arrived this week.
The first is Pittori Di Cinema from Maurizio Baroni. @Million pointed me towards that one over a year ago. But because of the price I kept postponing a purchase. This summer the publisher Lazy Dog had a sale and released the other book I received: Morricone by Maurizio Baroni. I took advantage of the sale and combined postage.

Every Morricone fan should get that book! I have the Italian version, but because of the amount of interest there will be an English version. For more info you can go here:

Morricone: https://lazydog.eu/product/morricone/
The English version will be pressed by Gingko Press but I cannot see the listing yet: http://gingkopress.com/

The other book contains info and works from the masters of Italian movie posters. I bought the special edition with the cover of Maria Bava's 1960 La Maschera Del Demonio by Giuliano Nistri. The book is only available in Italian.
More info here:https://lazydog.eu/product/pittori-di-cinema/

I just finished reading (actually listening to) Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire for the first time since the mid 90's. I always loved the Thrawn books when I was younger, it was the best continuation of the original saga. I found the audio books for the trilogy and decided to revisit them. I enjoyed my revisit quite a bit although it suffers the same fate anything setting out to be a trilogy from the start does, lots of set up for future events, one interesting plot piece to end cap the book but has no real resolution. I don't have time to start the second but I will with in the next few weeks I think. I'm way behind on podcasts that I normally listen so I need to catch up there first before heading into another book.

@ink +1 on the Thrawn books. I remember them having great cover art.

@Tim - re: The Talisman, I love King and have read two dozen of his books, but always shied from this one because of Straub. Nothing against the dude, but I've never been sure on the dual authors thing.

@jimmy- love Talisman, love Straub. I've no idea how the collab worked with this but I just remember it blowing my young socks off. Think this needs a revisit.

@jimmy, I hope you're enjoying it. I've read it twice and really enjoy it. It's follow up "The Black House" is pretty good also. But it was more closely tied to King's Gunslinger series. Supposedly there is a third planned but no word on it yet. King's 'The Institute' is on my shelf waiting to be read. Along with countless others. :)

There is some wild synchronicity going on here, because I just read The Talisman for the first time. J actually bought me a copy at the used book store on a hunch. How weird is that? Definitely will be checking out Black House.

Also, just to keep it weird, I'm almost finished with The Keep.

@deaf, I highly recommend continuing with The Adversary Cycle (The Keep). Mr. Wilson also has a Repairman Jack series and he ties the 2 together nicely.

Should finish this in the next day or so. Pretty good fictional tale of how Bram Stoker came to write Dracula.
