Any thoughts on this method?

I'm getting new decks to replace my old Technics 1200 mkiis (a pair of m5g, very excited!!) But they have to be shipped.

The guy was gonna tape the platters with masking tape, remove counterweights, secure tonearms, and make sure they're snug inside flight cases. The flight cases will then be packed securely in an outer box. Shipped FedEx insured.

Think that is a good idea or should I ask for something else?

That sounds pretty damn secure to me, man. I ran this by a union A/V & lighting road crew guy I know and he said that seemed legit. Congrats on the new decks, Tex.

Tex I had one shipped from Germany. Everything looks good.

The guy who shipped mine not only tapped the platter but snugly wrapped saran wrap around the center part of the deck...over the platter and around the bottom many times so there was no way the platter could come loose. Probably overkill but I had no issues.
