Hey people

So I'm gonna be in NYC over Hallowe'en this year, my first US trip!!

I hear it's pretty cool.

Anyone local/there for Samhain who wants to hook up/have a beer/go rekkid shopping??

I'm off to Spin 'Love at First Bite' and watch Dracula Bites the Big Apple to get in the mood!

POP QUIZ SUCKAZ:

Q. Top 3 NYC-set horror movies?
1. Wolfen
2. Rosemary's Baby
3. Maniac
Honorable mentions to Jacob's Ladder and Ghostbusters

But for all intents and purposes, my list could (and probably should) look like this:
1. Wolfen
2. Wolfen
3. Wolfen
Honorable mentions to Wolfen and Wolfen

Great picks.

I might go:

ROSEMARY'S BABY
CRUISING
LOOKING FOR MR GOODBAR

I know that the latter two are dramatic thrillers really, but they both scared the absolute piss out of me, scarring me for life!

You got my other faves covered. An alternate B list would be

CHUD
WOLFEN
STREET TRASH

I'd throw hon. mentions at American Psycho and Jason Takes Manhattan for sure, and 1408 is quite superb and underrated IMO.

I do love Larry Cohen's NYC flicks, my fave being GOD TOLD ME TO.

Hit me up on a PM when you are coming in, would love to meet up and have a drink, always like meeting forum members, see if Cult is around too. You aren't coming to town for the frizzi show are you?

this is a tough one...agree with Mateo about wolfen, rosemary and basket case are both time capsules for different parts of the city (same with chud). Basket case is really almost a historical document of what that neighborhood looked like (before my time but after my fathers, who lived blocks away from Times Square at its absolute worst)

Ghostbusters is a lighter contender for sure

For my money though, no movie is more "New York" than the original taking of Pelham 123. Even more than taxi driver sometimes, it's just....I mean my family talks like that, that accent...mine is NOTHING compared to some of my relatives, my grandparents practically sounded like cartoons of their respective Burroughs.

My mother was friends or at least acquaintances with the guy that did Dracula takes a bite out the big apple, it's come up a few times haha, I've never Actually seen it.

Movies-wise, anyone else here got a big soft spot for The Devil's Advocate?
