Finally opened this bottle. No idea if it still would taste any good.
2001 Cuvée van de Keizer.

It still tastes great.

Love the name and artwork for that but boy does that sound like one of the unappealing IPA's I've ever seen. Did you like it?

It was actually ok. Better than I expected to be honest. Though I wouldn't have known it was an IPA if not for the label. Not hoppy. It tastes like most peanut butter chocolate beers do. Very much on the sweet side, but ok for a dessert. Like a liquid Reese's cup.

I just bought a peanut chocolate stout a few nights ago. I thought it was interesting that it wasn't a peanut butter chocolate stout which you see a lot. Also had a ridiculous creature on it's label which grabbed my attention. It was ok, didn't really do much for me. The peanuts were very strong in the profile.

That sounds interesting. Like maybe it wouldn't be as sweet as one with peanut butter?
Even a peanut butter porter, without the chocolate, tends to be a bit too intense.

It's still sweet but I would definitely agree it's less sweet than most PB Chocolate Stouts. But the real take away from it was that it prioritized the "other" flavors to the traditional stout taste which just made it feel a little flat to me.

Quick question Bez - what do you do with empties of all these beautifully designed exotic cans/bottles? Do they go in the recycling, or is there a room at your place that looks like a dorm room from an 80s frat comedy?

And that's as close as you can get to Bailey's without your eyes gettin' wet.

:) yeah that one is picture perfect. It's tough to get that last layer of GM on the top to separate.

Haha, yeah, that‘s what those Belgian beers often look like - taste great, though.

Nice one, Pete. We only get Surly's flagship brews out here a few times a year. They're fine, but nothing as sexy as all that.

It was pretty tasty. Usually Furious IPA and Xtra-Citra are the only 2 available around my parts. They use to sell Todd the Axeman IPA but I guess it didn’t sell so well, so whenever I see them I stock up. I have a little reserve that a horde I think I’m down to my last 12 or so.

Surly doesn't get any distro up near me but I ended up going to their brewery about 5-6 years ago while on a business trip in the area. Definitely some good beers. I really liked Pentagram which is a dark sour.

My wife picked this up for us this weekend and it's fantastic.

This unfortunately is the last photo of that drinking glass. I've had it for almost 10 years and Friday evening at around 2am I managed to knock my big insulated water mug over right onto the top of it. Shattering it into a bunch of pieces. I then spent 45 minutes trying to find all the glass and piecing it back together making sure that I had it all. I didn't want any one stepping on glass in the carpet. Fair well fine glass, you served me well.

I’m jealous of you @inksb I haven’t been to the Brewery yet. One day hopefully I’ll get there. That Tequila looks tasty, I haven’t had a good Tequila in a long time. Sometimes it goes down a little too good so I try to just have it once and a while.

Honestly their brewery is one the biggest Brewery's I've ever been to, it's an expensive looking place. It was weird for me to see a place like that which I had never even heard of before. I'm used to all the smaller breweries in the NE that while super popular never really get very big.

That tequila goes down way too easy. It's kind of scary how quickly it disappears. I tend to drink good tequila neat, maybe an ice cube if it's a little hot. Cheaper stuff I like a little lime with it but this stuff you don't want to add lime, it's packed full of flavors that would just get lost behind the lime taste
