Hey all!
I need to buy my own turntable and stop mooching off a friend's. I'd like to get some other opinions. I'm using the U-Turn site for my recommended components because I'm looking for a pretty compact, but good setup. Component names link to product pages.

Turntable: U-Turn Orbit Plus (with optional Cue)

Preamp: Schiit Mani and SYS.

Speakers: looking at these Klipsch speakers, but can I use them with the other equipment with no receiver?

Opinions and comments welcome. The point of this setup is decent quality, low-ish price, and fairly compact as my wife and I are in a very small apartment.

Thanks!
Jonathan

No knowledge of any of that specific gear other than a co-worker having a Schiit DAC and headphone amp on his desk that keep breaking.

But you do need an actual amp in there somewhere. You can get a power amp, an integrated amp (and ditch the preamp) or active speakers but you need some power to drive the speakers.

Thanks for looking. I'll probably look into active speakers then to avoid adding another component. If I get these Audioengine powered speakers, do I not need the SYS anymore because the speakers have their own volume control?

I have a pair of audioengines, love them. They have their own volume control and a remote as well.
