hellooo. I may have the opportunity to buy a pair of celestion Ditton 33 speakers for £100. I've heard great things about these vintage speakers but not a lot about this particular model (not finding a lot on online either). They've only had the one owner and look pretty darn mint.
The other thing is I've also been eyeing up some Wharfdale Diamond 220. I imagine they're two very different sounding bits of kit. So what do I do? New or vintage? I think I should probably go and have a listen, eh?
But any help or info would be greatly appreciated. I know you crazy cats will see me right!
Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the Ditton 33 but I had a pair of 110s for many years and loved them - wish I still had them. Apparently the Diamond 220 is a corker though.

Thanks fellas! im going to check out these 33s tomorrow. The guys said they've been used "with respect" and look the same as when he bought them in the late 70s. Still has original boxes and everything. So worth checking them out I think.
I'll be sure to let you know how I get on. Thanks again!

You can't go wrong with the 33s. Lovely sound to them and depending on the finish they look nice too.
I plumped for a set of the 44s last year as they have a bit more grunt and I wanted them for a large attic room. You won't be disappointed with the 33s I reckon.

Ok. I went for the 33s! The guy had a lovely set up and demoed them for me and they sounded great. I got them home and hooked them up and it's definitely one of those "how have I managed to listen to anything before now?" They sound flipping amazing! Nice seperation and the bass is wild. My old speakers had piss poor bass quality. Now I jut need to set them up properly... Somewhere. They're huge!!
Thanks to DrRythym, Squee and Spencer for your input!

They do look pretty spiffing.
I know what you mean about the size. The 44s are even bigger. I had a heart attack when they got delivered. And a second one carrying them up into the attic!

Hahaha! Big ol' beasts!
Squee, do you have yours on the floor or on stands?
