I've just recently bought a copy of Temple of the Dog which, judging by sound quality and presentation I'm assuming is a bootleg.

I know this album very well and there are a couple of tracks where the speed slow downs noticeably.

So my technical question is this: would the cut of the record itself cause this slow down or is it my turntable not spinning at the correct speed and I've never noticed it before?

I imagine it's the source rather than your turntable.

Yeh sometimes bootlegs get pressed at the wrong speed. I have a pitch control on my turntables, but if you don't, I'd imagine very annoying.

Music on Vinyl released Temple of the Dog in...2013? A limited pressing on purple and also a second black pressing. I think there is an etch on the D side. The sound is decent, not the best from MoV but pretty good.

If you are nervous, you can check your TTs speed with a strobe disk, but I imagine it would be consistently slow or fast, not wavering - inertia and all that. but, a new belt never hurts if it is belt drive.

Okay thanks guys. Shouldn't be a belt issue as i upgraded it about 3 months ago so was unsure if the motor was failing! Its not the MOV release, it says A&M cat number 395 350-2 its all very flimsy.

it sounds fine until it hits a certain section of a song and then you can tell the speed isn't right, its just a little too slow in parts.
