The original Zebra paperback of RipTide passed through my collection when it was released. I don't remember anything about it. Not sure what the reason was for letting it go. Most likely needed the shelf space. Let us know what you think.
I finished Riptide last week, it was something. Very much a pulpy, trashy, 80s action story. Written terribly, full of misogyny and weirdly horny. It was entertaining with in the context of knowing it's a trashy book from the 80s and the only thing the author ever wrote book wise. I can't particularly recommend it to anyone unless they are after that type of thing. For being a book about 26ft tiger shark terrorizing a town in Florida, the finale had the shark as part of it for maybe a few pages but there was no confrontation or resolution to the shark part of the story.
My wife wanted me to read The Salt Grows Heavy next which she loved, it was like writing whiplash to go from a book that I would categorize as written by someone who had no idea how to write to a book where in the first 2 pages I had to look up 4 words that I had never read before. That said The Salt Grows Heavy is fascinating, really well written and I'm very much enjoying this little novella which I'll probably finish in the next few days
