About DATA AIRLINES:
We are a label focused around retro-gaming, indie electronics, chiptune, synth and retro-future design founded in 2006. Data Airlines is run by pilots from Marseille, France and Malmö, Sweden with roots in the demo & crackscene computer subcultures of the 80s and 90s. From SID to MP3, From Atari to Moog and all the ground in between. Thank you for helping us transform the dancefloor into square waves

With more and more support from STBC forum users, we decided its the only natural way to start our own thread in here.
We cant be more thankful for all the love and support from you, guys. We have a lot of new, kickass releases coming the next months, many of these should fit STBC very well. We also have a new sub label - DATA-KINO focusing mainly on soundtracks and releases related to film world.

And a follow up with our recent release

WOJCIECH GOLCZEWSKI - END OF TRANSMISSION

ImageImageImageImage

Earlier this fall, Lakeshore Records put out a digital version of Wojciech Golczewski's "End of Transmission". EOT is a spin-of project for Golczewski's Reality Check trilogy and just like Reality Check it is drawing inspiration from space travel and sci-fi horror but in a much more dirty and intimate fashion. Where Reality Check is a complex production of sounds from numerous sources. End of Transmission is only Golczewski alone in the studio with a vintage miniMoog and a recorder, trying to paint a sound scape to the otherwise complete silence of space travel. The minimalism of End of Transmission is almost like a compromise between the contemporary heavy electroica and the more classical symphonic approach to space music. Needless to say that Golczewski has managed to give you the answer if anyone would ask you the question "if you would go to space and could only bring one album..."

In co-operation with Lakeshore Records (http://www.lakeshorerecords.com), Data Airlines have given End of Transmission a well deserved 12" vinyl and audio cassette treatment.

Thanks NathanLurker! Glad you enjoy Reality Check and thanks for getting a copy of Dark Souls. Not sure if its still available but EOt is also available through Transmission UK and TwoHeadedDog in US. Big batch will be distributed by Mondo too, so definitely a chance to get yourself a copy.

Hi guys!

We're excited to announce 2 new releases available!

1. Dallas Campbell - Chihuahuan (Digital/Cassette

LINK - https://magichappened.bandcamp.com/albu ... an-data059

Image
  • Chihuahuan by Dallas Campbell, also on cassette is a synth escapade reminiscing of The Orb but with more oscillators and less samplers.
2. 2XAA - Flow (Digital/Cassette)

LINK - https://dataairlines.bandcamp.com/album/flow-data053

Image
  • Feeling the need to break his habitual patterns of composing, 2xAA recently changed his Gameboy DMG for a more sophisticated Gameboy Advance. With the new sound palette, Sam brings us 40 minutes of scaled down dance music that is a clear departure from his previous style. But at the same time Flow carries such a wonderfully gritty UK groove that reminds of why we love the dance music scene of the British isles in the first place
3. Wojciech Golczewski - End Of Transmission (Cassette)

LINK - https://wojciechgolczewski.bandcamp.com ... on-data054

Repress of 50 cassettes - Apollo Grey variant.

Enjoy!

US folks, the Campbell tape is up for pre-order on Two Headed Dog.

I do have a question about the "Dark Souls" release. From the 2HDog listing, it looks like the vinyl has fewer tracks than the CD. Is that true, or did the vinyl tracks get reworked?

Wojciech did pick his own tracklist for the vinyl release. Cues he likes the most and what he thought would make the best listening experience ( rejected cues are mostly underscore/drone/ambient ones). Due to vinyl limits there is indeed a few tracks less than on CD.

At the moment, there are no plans to put it out on vinyl but if theres a big demand we would surely consider doing it. Its great stuff.

I bought both of these the moment they went up. Chihuahuan was the draw because it's amazing, but the 2xAA was a pleasant surprise so I nabbed it as well.

Received EoT and Dark Souls at the weekend and managed to listen to both, back to back, last night. Reality Check was one of my top 3 albums of 2016. I had high hopes, and I'm not disappointed.

EoT is similar enough to hear the connection, but different enough to not sound like Reality Check outtakes. Surely WoGo must be in demand for sci-fi films now, this material is so great. I can't wait to hear the next music from this 'universe'.

Dark Souls is quite different again. You wouldn't make the connection to the composer of Reality Check. I've only listened once, but it sounds like a strong score, and I'll have both releases on repeat for a while I think.

Good looking out, Red. I just copped these myself. Went with the red tape over the limited, but not because of cost; just like the aesthetic better.

I'll be picking up the CD. Due to the bizarre way of things, it's about £1 more to get the CD shipped than the digital album. No complaints here. Really great to have the outtakes made available too. There's a wealth of great stuff coming from Mr G these days.

I might have held out for the vinyl, but as it's coming on DW rather than Data Airlines I'd need to double dip for the DL.
