Glad I held back on buying this after some of these stories, interesting gimmick but when its damaging the record it's a major fuck up (no pun intended).

i recieved my pink copy with the vibrator last week and there is nothing i can complain about. record, sleeve and poster inside absolutely flawless...

would like to know if this was a one off or if they will release another porn movie soundtrack. some incredible music has been made back then for those little filthy flicks. would like to see some stuff from the early 70s!

***PRIV4TE PROBLEM***

Months ago (July 6th), I ordered both Sex Fever AND Concorde Affaire 79 direct from private. Received Sex Fever; I love it, but Concorde did not arrive in that package. After many back and forth emails between me and "J", whereas he continually didn't seem to understand my issue, gave me the same tracking number to double check every time (which was the tracking number for the package I already received), I am left pretty befuddled.

It's been MONTHS, and at this point all I want is a refund (which I brought up in an email about a month ago) for the record which was never sent to me. But he's unresponsive, or responds by asking me to check the tracking number AGAIN.

Has anyone else had major problems with Priv4te? Because to me, this is a major problem. Why will he not address my issue directly? As of today I've started posting on their Facebook page about it, which I know sounds bratty as hell, but I've been very polite this whole time (with emails to prove it) and I feel like it deserves to be brought-up publicly now.

So anyways, I like their releases, but seriously… what the fuck? End of rant. :(

Weird, that's too bad. I haven't had any issues like that with Pr1vate, though he is not always the most responsive emailer.

Does anyone know if the Captain Future OST reissue has dropped yet? I never got an email from the mailing list, and I can't tell if it's out/sold out or still to be released. Really would like to grab one this time.

Side note: Would love if LITA were able to pick up US distribution for Private. I love what Private is offering, but I've passed up on nearly all of their releases just due to the total expense including overseas shipping. Just putting that out in the universe. :)

I've had almost that exact same problem, antimax. I asked about it on here several months ago and, at the time, no one else had experienced anything like it that came forward. Jay does seem like a very nice man, but there were issues that almost would've seemed language barrier related if I hadn't had timely, in depth correspondence with him prior to my shipping issue. It truly seemed like he was just ignoring things. First the issue and then, ultimately, me. We did eventually get to the bottom of it, but it took many months to get there. At least it got resolved. I, too, would support the company again if they found some stateside distribution, but as of right now I can't justify spending $40+ on a record from overseas with, at best, negligent communication and a spotty personal experience to boot.

+ 1 to US problems with Priv4te - ordered Sex Fever, still haven't received it, and was pretty much told that since I only paid for "standard" shipping I'm out of luck.

I realize that this is an inherent risk of ordering from overseas (or any mail order for that matter), but have found correspondence to be minimal and somewhat cold. Live and learn I suppose. I've had good experiences with the label in the past, but I never had an issue that required any communication.

I don't get the impression that Priv4te is anything more than a 1 man operation, so I'm sure that when there are problems it can be difficult for both the buyer and seller, as I doubt he's making a whole lot of profit on these releases to begin with - and everyone loses when items go missing.

It also hasn't been lost on me that when the "bonus" item went through customs, it may have been flagged/opened/checked, and gotten destroyed in the process.

I'll probably stick to ordering the releases from DW when they get them, or just buy on discogs (as long as prices aren't insane).

I've attempted to contact Priv4te via email in the past and agree with the communication issues. I love the releases, but I wait until I can get them from a domestic source. The most responsible seller on discogs I've found for their releases are the Medical Records guys (seller ID: sinewave93).

I was tempted to order their version of City of the Living Dead, but aside from the price, I was a little put off by the fact that you're just sending some guy money via Paypal. There is no webstore to purchase from. I know it's old style mail order, but in this day, it's not that hard to get a store up and running. They have plenty of releases under their belt. Discogs is the way to go, and the seller that @Voodoo_Jim mentioned seems to have the best prices for the Private stuff.

Jay does sell stuff via Discogs too. I think his account name is digitalist or something along those lines. But he sends out emails to his mailing list first, and some of the releases like Sex Fever sell out before they make it to Discogs.

I send payments on paypal as "payment for goods" so the PayPal seller protection does apply. Also, Paypal just upped the "not received" dispute window from 45 to 180 days.

Well he seems to have responded to my most recent combo of Facebook/email messages. Jay asked for my
Address and says he'll ship out a Concorde 79 record tomorrow. So, hopefully this problem is fixed - we'll see!

Wanted to post this here to keep people from experiencing the same thing that has happened to me. I have been buying directly from Janis/Private records since their first release. Recently I had purchased three records from them including the Sex Fever lp. I received the other two records but no Sex Fever lp. I mailed Janis about it and he told me transit times can take awhile. I waited another two weeks. It didn't show up. I mailed him again and told him I didn't know what had happened but it didn't arrive. I also asked if it was in fact mailed seperately from the other two records I had purchased. He never answered this question. He said he was going to mail me a replacement lp but that I would have to use registered shipping for all orders in the future. I told him this wasn't a problem because I want to get my records and the other shipping he uses has no form of track(?). I never received the replacement and all my emails have gone unanswered. I have tried mailing him three times but nothing. Seems pretty cheap to lose a customer who has been supporting your label from the beiginning by not following through. I also sell records on Discogs and have had a couple of instances where things arise. I never leave a buyer out in the cold. It keeps people happy and keeps them coming back. So if you plan on buying from Private records use caution or don't buy at all.

For my Captain Future order Jay mentioned he is going with registered mail only from now on. I had to sign for the delivery yesterday. It did show up pretty fast though.

Well I might as well update about my situation while we're at it. Three weeks after saying he would send out a Concorde record "tomorrow", he emailed me asking if I wanted a record or a refund. Um… Didn't we already sort this out three weeks ago? I had been waiting for a record, but now I said just please give me a refund at this point. We'll see how that goes… He said he's been flooded with emails.

Got my Captain Future today and it was pretty much mangled...pretty thin cardboard "wrap" with no support cardboard - Didn't want to miss this Lp and will probably be me last direct order...nothing worse than weak packaging - +1 with toosoonjunior hoping to see a US distributor
