If I am not mistaken there are a lot of cheap VS to be had for the less interesting scores. Do you VS aficionados go mainly go after the scores you know that are great or simply want them all? My addiction for collecting would probably have me buy 20 or so VS titles at around €10 a piece simply to get a quick VS fix.
For the moment I am staying out of this rabbit hole. Maybe next year :-)

@Bez with VS stuff I actively go after scores for movies I like, or composers I like. With that being said if I find a Varese album in the wild that’s cheap and I don’t have I always grab it.

Brian May did the score originally but Goblin were asked to provide a score for the Italian market. Some of it new, some reused from other flicks.

Makes the most sense of course. I know I easily can get carried away and often have a feeling of wanting it all...

I’d agree with this, for a long time I convinced myself I didn’t need originals because the stuff I really wanted was too expensive. But over the last year or so I’ve been shifting on this hard, probably since I picked up NOTLD in 2018.

I try hard not to buy scores for films I haven’t seen or composers I don’t know just for the hype, although that largely only matters for the boutique labels and newer films.

sometimes I will if I know it will be up my alley anyway, IE I’ve never seen Shy People but I’d buy the score immediately if it was on hand because it’s TD. Or if someone has played something here enough like Haunted Summer, a movie that is stupidly hard to come by that I’d love to watch given it’s subject matter and cast, but the score is well regarded by people I trust and a composer I like. I spin that record all the time without ever having seen the film, but that’s a rarity.

Hahaha, so I had actually ordered some random stuff from VS on Goldsmiths birthday (no actual goldsmith it was just that day ha) and it’s getting delivered today, imagine my eye roll when I see an emails saying

“A shipment from varese sarabande is being delivered today”

Isn’t that just the motto of the month

I'll go for scores of movies I haven't seen if I know the composer and have other titles of theirs I like. Also, I have a few VS anniversary comps so if something hits me on one of those I'll do more research and may get it. Especially if it's a cheapy. But, If I'm in a spending mood all bets are off, I may live dangerously and go for it.

Three choice LPs @hatter. And everyone should see Forbidden Zone at least once in their life!

I still really want a copy of Nowhere to Hide, despite the fact that utter cad @Bez unceremoniously kicked it out of his JCVD top five today.

Hahahahaha
I was thinking of making a mention of it. I am sorry. I do think you would also like Lukas/The Bouncer. However, probably not as much as you like Nowhere to Hide... ahum... Run

I appreciate the alphabetisation @Tim, makes it easier to spot the glaring holes in your collection.

The.... glaring.... umm....

;)

(Genuinely though, are there that many titles left out there that you are actively looking for? It can't be many....)
